Wiping Out the Founding Fathers

January 22, 2021 by Jim Pierce 4 Comments

One of the very first moves by the incoming Biden administration was to remove an important report from the White House website. Not only did they simply make it disappear, but they took the active step to rescind it; in other words, it never existed!

So today, I have a homework assignment for you. Read it. Now. Click on this 1776 to access the report and then please come back to this article.

I hope you have read this wonderful report. I wish every kid across the land would be required to read and appreciate its contents. So, why is it now officially banned? Well, it reminds us how exceptional this country is, and how amazing our founding fathers were. The reader can only but shake his or her head when contemplating how incredible it was that the likes of Washington, Jefferson, Madison, Monroe, Hamilton, Franklin, Adams and others found each other, and despite their cultural differences, came together to form a more perfect union than had ever been formed before.

The 1776 Commission was formed by Donald Trump. Alas, that, if for no other reason, is why the incoming administration has relegated it to the dustbin of history. Well folks, no matter how many flies may rest on the figurative corpse of Donald Trump as he resides in his post-Presidential twilight zone, the fact is that good things DID happen in the past four years. Indeed, without re-litigating the myriad positive developments during the Trump years, let’s just remember that there are basically two firewalls standing between us and complete leftist legislative pandemonium. The first one is SCOTUS, and if and when various progressive cases make their way over the next few years all the way up to Justice Robert’s court, we can only hope the Constitution is upheld time and again. Second is Senator Manchin from West Virginia. No one controls the Senator. He will, however, be on the line time and again, as he has to decide whether he will support the extreme leftist legislation that will be headed his way from the House.

The Main Stream Media is reacting to the removal of the 1776 Commission Report in a very predictable fashion. Here is NBC’s take. You see, from the perspective of the Biden administration, and its massively lap-dog like media following, any attempt to teach what actually happened during our founding is an attempt to “REWRITE” history! From the perspective of the left, our real history is that we were founded by a mob of pseudo-intellectual racist hooligans who murdered everyone who got in the way of their quest for power, and who blithely rationalized the institution of slavery. THAT NARRATIVE IS IGNORANT. IT IS FALSE. IT IS DANGEROUSLY DISINGENUOUS FOR THIS REVISIONISM TO FIND ITS WAY INTO THE MAINSTREAM OF AMERICAN EDUCATION, BUT THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT IS HAPPENING.

George Washington, when leaving after two terms in office, wrote these words. ” The name ‘American’, which belongs to you (the people), in your national capacity, must always exalt the just pride of patriotism more than any appellation derived from local discriminations….here every portion of our country finds the most commanding motives for carefully guarding and preserving the Union of the whole.” Wow. For those students of history, you will know that is the concise and precise sentiment that drove Abraham Lincoln to focus solely on preserving the Union as he prosecuted the war between the states.

So, if you did not read the article, please do it now, and please download it and send it to your family and friends. We have a leadership and media elite that is hell-bent on discrediting our past; our amazing formation. We are a Republic unlike any other. But remember Benjamin Franklin’s response when asked by a friend what was the true result of the Constitutional Convention of 1787. His friend asked “Doctor, what have we got? A republic or a monarchy?” With a solemn look (and perhaps a twinkle in his eye), Franklin responded “A Republic, if you can keep it!”

I’m going to make it easy for you. Here (again!) is the link.

I waited….

January 6, 2021 by Jim Pierce 41 Comments

Yes, you see, I didn’t write until we knew the results of yesterday’s runoff vote in Georgia. And now I take pen to hand.

Oh, I know many of you will not like what you are about to read. I am ready for the assault.

Donald Trump is to blame for our loss in Georgia; not partially, mind you. Totally. His egomaniacal narcissism buried us. His refusal to mobilize the base for the good of our country, and insistence on making everything, (and I mean everything) about himself-and the incessant claims of election fraud- are the reasons we lost these two Senate seats.

Enough already with blaming Dominion and write-in ballots! Enough already with blaming Republicans in Name Only. Enough already with blaming Mitch McConnell, Tom Cotton, or whomever is your evil spirit of the day. None of those targets are legitimate. None! If you are continuing to hide behind these bogeymen (or, per new House rules, bogeywomen) you are deluding yourself.

We have lost our way. Many of us think the art of compromise is something to be disparaged. Many of us have tacitly approved of the politics of division and derision. What hath we wrought? I’ll tell you what. Defeat. And it is our fault. Too many Republicans are like their children; blaming everyone and everything for this election disaster. Sorry, folks, just as you must tell your children to be accountable for their own actions and mistakes, so too must you look in the mirror and accept the fact that Donald Trump and Donald Trump alone has put us in this position. The November 2020 election was ours to lose. Thanks to “The Donald”, we did just that. Yesterday’s Georgia debacle is just more of the same.

In the next two years, we are going to witness proposed legislation that will, if passed and signed into law, fundamentally change these United States. One can only hope that certain centrist Democrats will have enough spine to prevent the onslaught of self-serving, anti-capitalist, anti-entrepreneurial, anti-private sector, pro Big Brother initiatives that will inevitably pass through the House of Representatives and find their way to the Senate floor. One can only hope and pray there remains an iota of common sense amongst a select few Democrats serving in the Senate. I am not holding my breath.

Lest you think my rant about Donald Trump is over, I am sorry to disappoint you. He needs to go away. He needs to go pursue any number of self-aggrandizing, self-promoting ventures off of which he seems to feed. Leave us alone. Leave the country alone. Let us restore the GOP to the party of hope and dreams for hard working Americans who view their government as their protector, not their paycheck.

If the Democrats do what they say they are going to do, I believe the stage will be set for a GOP house cleaning party in the 2022 mid-term elections. There are only two things that will prevent this from happening:

  1. The Democrats actually rule with broad-minded aplomb-that will not happen.
  2. Donald Trump continues to dominate the discourse in the GOP. That could happen, and if it does, it will be a disaster.

Time will tell. In the meantime, for the love of country and God, please stop blaming everything and everyone for our losses. We need look no further than Le Grande Orange. Time to move on!

Endless Drivel

December 2, 2020 by Jim Pierce 19 Comments

I took a break. It was necessary. I know some of you are upset that I spoke early and encouraged President Trump to exit with grace and dignity. Alas, I have not changed my position, and, unfortunately for our country, neither has he! Look, there clearly were shenanigans in various states that should not have happened. Why does it always seem to be the Democrats behind this nonsense? Rhetorical question, I guess. But the point remains that the Trump legal team has not been able to prove (in any state!) that those shenanigans (alleged or real) were of enough importance as to actually impact the outcome. Bottom line, for the sake of our country, Mr. President, do the right thing. Help our candidates in Georgia secure the Senate. Fight for years to come to make our elections fair, and ensure that election day means just that; election day, not election week, or election month, or however long it takes to get the desired outcome!

I write today about an even bigger threat to our Republic than Democrats stuffing ballot boxes. Our existential right to exist as free people and free thinkers is under attack. The assault is endless. It is literally 24/7. They are wearing us down under the theory that if they never stop, and they attack everything, soon enough, over the years, we will begin to accept the new normal. Groupthink will be the norm. Vomit.

Who are they? Well, they are the progressives who now dominate the media, the Democrat party, many large businesses, the World Economic Forum, etc. You get the picture? There are millions of them. They do not like the United States I love. The want to eradicate everything, and I mean everything we hold dear. They look at our 250 years of incredible growth and success as the most noble experiment in the annals of man, and see nothing but maladies all created and perpetrated by white, Anglo-Saxon males. To the haters, the United States of America is a horrible place and the entire socio-economic and political structures need to be tossed in the rubbish bin, and replaced by a new normal. That new normal, friends, sounds an awful lot like socialism. Worse yet, I think some of these nutjobs actually believe what they are saying! If it were simply jargon being used as a pathway to power, well, the cynic in all of us could understand. No, this is worse. We are being besieged by ideologues who actually believe the vitriol spewing forth from their oral cavities (or some cavity).

Poor Rudolph! That’s right, even Rudolph and his creators are being thrown under the bus. Click here to watch this absurdity.

Can you believe it? Next will be assaults on Santa, (fat old racist white man) the Easter Bunny, (a Protestant hoax to covertly promote a false Christian narrative), and Halloween (using white ghosts reminiscent of the KKK to propagate a white supremacist world for perpetuity). That is ridiculous, right? Wrong. Does anyone actually think these attacks will stop? If you do, Lord help you.

Ronald Reagan may not have been a deep thinker or one to get into the weeds on policy details. But he had a vision, and he knew right from wrong. He summed up where we are headed in these 45 seconds.

Friends, the threat is real. It is happening. Retain those Senate seats in Georgia. Win the House back in 2022. Show the elites who matters. I guarantee you they don’t think you do.

The Hypocrisy of the Left

November 10, 2020 by Jim Pierce 8 Comments

I wrote an article a few days ago that managed to anger many readers who lean to the right, and (not surprisingly, I guess) please those who lean left. In the aforementioned article, I said “To be clear, just today I signed a petition for a recount in several battleground states. Do I think this was a clean election? No. Do I think voter fraud is a clear and present danger? Yes. But do I think there was such rampant fraud that SCOTUS (because that is where all roads would lead) would have enough evidence to declare the election results null and void? No.“

My main point was that when all the election litigation is said and done, my guts tell me Mr. Biden will still be the President-elect, and I implored Mr. Trump to exit with grace and dignity.

If I am wrong, and Mr. Trump’s legal team actually has enough compelling evidence to reverse the results of the election, then I will own being wrong, and I will be the first to resoundingly say “the system works!”

Now hear this. The left is borderline apopletic over the idea that Mr. Trump wants to contest the results in several battleground states. Attorney General Barr has now authorized his Justice Department to investigate all “valid” claims of fraud and/or miscreant behavior. The horror!

What an utter load of manure. A considerable portion of the left never (and I mean never) accepted Donald Trump as a duly elected President. They then spent four years trying to de-legitimatize him. They stopped at nothing. They lied. They fabricated an entire Russian hoax. The scandal went all the way into President Obama’s circle of knowledge, and included the sitting CIA Director, and, of course, Hillary Clinton. They have never been held accountable.

We live in a world of double standards. What should be abundantly clear to all is that there is a progressive narrative and it is almost unilaterally supported by the main stream media. It is virtually impossible to get to the actual nub of any story. Media reports today are based upon layer after layer of subterfuge. It is embarrassing. It is scary.

I am not ready to say I was wrong when I wrote that the net result of all this litigation will still be the election of Mr. Biden. But I am ready to say I should have given more time to acknowledging the stunning hypocrisy of the left. Even Mr. Biden has morphed within a week from saying that every vote must count to saying “The people of this nation have spoken. They have delivered us a clear victory. A convincing victory.”

Ummm. There is nothing “clear” or “convincing” about last week’s election. That is the stuff of cloud-cuckoo land.

The attacks from the left have already begun. It is very reminiscent of the Nazi Brown Shirts in the 1930’s. AOC is sending tweets threatening to keep lists of all those who supported Donald Trump. Nancy Pelosi is refusing to repudiate socialism. Hey, folks, you get what you pay for!

As George W Bush said in his statement over the weekend, “President Trump has the right to request recounts and pursue legal challenges, and any unresolved issues will be properly adjudicated. The American people can have confidence that this election was fundamentally fair, its integrity will be upheld, and its outcome is clear.” I agree, and the fact that millions of those who lean left think it is outrageous that the President hasn’t yet conceded, is, well, hypocritical! I guess we shouldn’t expect any other behavior from them. It is their way or the highway and it has ever been thus.

To be clear, I am writing solely about the integrity of the American election process, without which we are nothing. Nada. Zippo. All Americans should want to know that all (and only) legal votes have been counted. The last thing Mr. Biden should want is the knowledge that he would take the oath in January, and a minimum of 70,000,000 people think he won by crooked devices. Joe Biden should be first in line to advocate for a clear and decisive victory. Where we stand now is anything but that.

Time to Go

November 8, 2020 by Jim Pierce 28 Comments

Alas, Mr. President, it is time to do the right thing. There is a time honored tradition in the United States, and you are not exempt. Exit stage right, and do so with grace and dignity. Please.

To be clear, just today I signed a petition for a recount in several battleground states. Do I think this was a clean election? No. Do I think voter fraud is a clear and present danger? Yes. But do I think there was such rampant fraud that SCOTUS (because that is where all roads would lead) would have enough evidence to declare the election results null and void? No.

These blue states need to get their acts together. Allowing ballots to be postmarked up until election day is a sham. Closing ballot stations off and counting ballots in secret is appalling. Ballots should be received by election day, full stop. Election day is election day. By the next morning, there should be a winner and a loser. This isn’t rocket science. Pennsylvania set itself up to be a laughing stock and it did not fail in achieving that outcome.

All eyes are (or should be) on Georgia. My guess is that we will see hundreds of millions of dollars poured into what appears will be two US Senate run-off elections. On the outcome of those races hangs the balance of power. On the outcome of those races hangs the only hope for checks and balances in the next several (well, two, for sure) years.

The Democrats will stop at nothing to achieve a 50-50 split in the Senate, so Vice President elect Kamala Harris can swoop in and break all tie votes. Folks, if the GOP doesn’t hold the Senate, Katy bar the door!

Let’s just reflect for a moment on what an actual blue wave will do to this country. In short, we will witness an all out effort to 1) re-regulate American business, 2) eliminate right to work states, 3) impose higher personal and corporate taxes, while restoring tax breaks to all blue states-oh, the irony- 4) eliminate the presently favorable death tax structure, 5) resurrect the Paris climate accord, 6) destroy energy independence by attacking fossil fuel exploration and development, 7) attack the men and women in blue, 8) re-engage with Iran, 9) make Palestinian agreement a prerequisite to any further Middle-Eastern peace agreements, 10) “pack” the court, 11) add DC and Puerto rico as states, and 12) generally attack our entire history and all that has made this a great country. I kid you not. They do not like us.

Let me be clear, lest someone attack me for saying “they do not like us”. “Us” is every hard working American who believes in equal opportunity and not guaranteed outcome. “Us” is white, black, brown, purple, I don’t care. “Us” is straight, gay, LGBTQ, I don’t care. “Us” is us. OK?

Let’s also hone in on my points above. I am not worried about Mr. Biden. And that is the point, see? Mr. Biden has little chance of being a strong leader. He is surrounded by power hungry haters; people whose entire careers have been predicated on sowing seeds of racial and economic division. And therein lies the irony. They successfully ran a campaign based on one thing; their detestation of Donald Trump. They said he is a racist. They said he is the most divisive President in US history. As my mother used to say, “Well if that isn’t the pot calling the kettle black!” The entire progressive movement is based on sowing seeds of anger, discontent, jealousy, and divisiveness. It is alarming, and it is shameful.

So no, this election is not over. it’s now very much centered in Georgia. But for you, Mr. President, it is over. We know you don’t like it. We know you believe you were cheated. Its just not going to come out that way in the wash. When all is said and done, the result will be what we know it to be today. So it’s time to go, and I’ll say it again; it’s time to go with grace and dignity. Please.

What Happened Last Night?

October 23, 2020 by Jim Pierce 10 Comments

DEBATE TAKEAWAYS: Round 2 highlights policy over petulance | Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Last night, Donald Trump actually behaved himself. That doesn’t mean Trump haters did not find reasons to consider him insufferable. It just means what it says; he was not a boorish ass.

If the debate were a boxing match, there are two things to note; 1) The fight went the distance, and 2) Trump won on points. Based on how tired and confused Mr. Biden looked by the end of the event, if he really were a boxer, he most likely would have announced his retirement.

So does it mean anything? First, let’s look at the numbers. In 2016, some 55% of eligible voters cast a ballot. That amounts to approximately 138,000,000 Americans. (Well, let’s be optimistic and assume they were all Americans.) This year, 47,000,000 Americans have already voted. That is fully 10,000,000 more people than had voted early at this point in time 4 years ago. To extrapolate that number out, it could mean that the number of people who vote this year may approach 175,000,000.

So you see, that is what people can do with numbers! 175,000,000 Americans probably won’t vote, but something is happening. The exit polls are bi-polar. On one hand, they indicate that Trump Derangement Syndrome is real, and there is a motivated democrat base that is turning out to vote solely predicated on its detestation of the President. On the other, there are indications that the numbers of people who turn out for President Trump will even exceed what we witnessed in 2016.

General consensus is that somewhere between 5-7% of those who intend to vote are still undecided. While that seems small, when one considers that Biden leads Trump in most battleground states by margins of 4-6%, that undecided voter population suddenly becomes very important.

My takeaway on the debate is that Mr. Biden and his advisors have decided they are so far ahead that there is absolutely no reason to take chances of messing thing up by actually going out and campaigning! Last night, it was clear that Mr. Biden wanted to impart the message that the election is about character and integrity. Hmmmm, interesting. The problem for Mr. Biden is that for those who take the time to study this man, character and integrity are not words synonymous with Mr. Biden’s record. The former Vice President has been caught out distorting the truth about his accomplishments on numerous occasions over his career, and let’s not forget his infamous Neil Kinnock “lapse” back in 1988. (Click here if you have forgotten!)

So if character is the lynchpin of his campaign, will his past, the Hunter Biden laptop and Navy Lt. Tony Bobulinski’s (a lifelong democrat) revelations make that 5-7 per cent undecided group think twice about a vote for Biden? Don’t answer me if you have already voted for Biden or plan to. I know you are not changing your mind, no matter what inconvenient facts are surfacing on a day to day basis. But if you are undecided, I would like to hear from you.

Last night, Mr. Biden flat out lied twice. Well, I know of two mistruths. He said he has never come out against fracking. That simply is not true. He challenged President Trump to prove it. This morning the Trump campaign released a short video showing Mr. Biden saying (multiple times) he would ban fracking. (See Newsweek article here.) The Trump campaign needs to make sure voters in Pennsylvania and Ohio understand what Biden’s policies mean to their states.

On the issue of his son’s laptop, he had the opportunity to take the high road, and say he has never been involved in any untoward foreign transactions, and move on. Instead, he blamed the Russians! Will the main stream media actually continue to support that charade? It was a weak, weak moment. He should be held accountable. The Director of National Intelligence (corroborated by the FBI) has already confirmed their is no evidence of any connection between Russia and the information on Hunter Biden’s laptop.

The China story is not going away. It may not pick up steam until after the election, but we will learn more at some point down the road.

On Covid-19, I think all of us watching the debate grew weary of how much time was taken talking about the virus. Here are the two take-aways- 1) Joe Biden attacked and attacked but could not say how his administration would have done anything substantively different, and 2) the President made it very clear we must re-open the economy and schools as a top priority, and the former Veep not only promised a dark winter, but did not close the door on the possibility of shutting things down again. Unlike Mr. Biden, Americans cannot afford to stay in their basements forever.

We don’t know how this will turn out. Things don’t look good for the President or, for that matter, the GOP led Senate. But stranger things have happened. It will be an interesting 10 days.

As always, please let me know your thoughts.

Help Me Understand

October 21, 2020 by Jim Pierce 12 Comments

My blog has been read with some regularity by thousands of Americans. Most readers appear to be sympathetic to my message. In today’s massively divided America, the logical conclusion is that I have been preaching to the choir.

So, please, help me out here. Some of you to the far right have hammered me ( consistently!) for my firm position that I do not like anything about President Trump. This is notwithstanding the fact that I voted for him in 2016 (holding my nose) and have already voted for him again this year. Let me be clear. I vote for all the good that has happened in this country we love. I do not vote for the man. I vote for our country. I despair that so many Americans cannot see beyond that paradox.

Where do I start?

One of the best Senators in the GOP is Rob Portman from Ohio. He was W’s US Trade Representative, and head of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB). He is a classic public servant. No ego; he just wants to serve his country. Read this article (click here) he wrote for Barron’s. Senator Portman eloquently and factually outlines the amazing accomplishments of the pre-Covid Trump years. Through de-regulation and tax relief, the malaise of the Obama-Biden years were erased. Black unemployment was at an all-time low, and Black home ownership was conversely at an all-time high. This was not accidental. Deregulation and low taxes work! Please appreciate the irony; former Vice President Biden is actually running advertisements suggesting that the pre-Covid economy was a result of the Obama years! Good Lord, help us all!

So bear with me. Let’s take a look at the Biden platform. Allow me to refer you to the 2020 Democrat Platform. Go ahead; please read it. Click here to do so. Marx and Lenin would be proud. Even Hugo Chavez may have risen for a standing ovation. Folks, for the life of me, I do not understood how anyone who loves this wonderful United States of America could possibly pull the lever for a party that espouses America’s destruction. And let’s be very clear; mainstream progressive democrats do not love anything about what has made the United States of America great.

OK, I get it. Some of you do not like the President. No, let’s just get to the bottom of it; you detest him. Great. But are you actually willing to throw away 244 years of history in order to satisfy yourself that you had a hand in deposing “le grande orange”?

If you are still unconvinced, you will be abandoning the party that supports charter schools (the only proven hope for advancement for kids coming from underprivileged neighborhoods). Why? Because the teacher’s unions consider them a threat. Vomit.

You must not like fossil fuels, right? So that means you are ok with no buildings, no glass, no plastics, no steel, no fabrication, no power, no trains, planes, or automobiles. All good, right? Sure! Let’s move back into caves! Let me be clear. The energy transition is happening. We will have more and more alternative sources of energy. But this is not a zero sum game. We need fossil fuels, and we will need them for decades to come. Any suggestion to the contrary is foolhardy.

You don’t know it unless you are a policy wonk, but the Trump administration overturned hundreds of Obama-era regulations and executive orders; all of which kowtowed to progressive special interests and served to slow the economy down. Trump’s executive orders put our economy on steroids.

I don’t know about you, but I really don’t feel like paying circa 50% of my wages to the federal government. Mr. Biden (directly and through hidden fees) will ensure that you and I do. Also on this topic, we finally made American businesses competitive again by lowering the corporate tax rate, and lo and behold, Mr. Biden wants to raise them again. For those of you long enough in the tooth to remember, during the Obama years the United States had the highest corporate tax rate in the western world (sans France). Yes, the United States. Businesses were re-domiciling to the UK! Trump fixed it. Biden wants to eradicate all the progress made. Democrats don’t seem to understand that businesses create jobs. Democrats actually believe that government (ie, your tax dollars) create jobs. Wow.

If I hear one more advertisement about how the GOP wants to take “pre-existing conditions” away from the American citizen, well, I already said I was going to vomit, so I can’t say that again. The GOP has made it very clear that horse has left the barn. No one (and I mean no one) is campaigning against the notion that pre-existing conditions won’t be part of any health care solution.

There is a debate tomorrow night and the topic of “foreign affairs” is not even on the agenda. We truly live in the twilight zone. The President and his team have pulled the UAE and Bahrain into a peace agreement with Israel. The President has been nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize. I know, you missed it. I’ll say it again. The President has been nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize. Holy cow! I would venture to say that 90% of America has no idea, and the Main Stream Media would like to keep it that way.

A few more things;

1) When this election is over, mark my words; the Democrats will stop talking about Covid. The virus has been a campaign issue from day one. If they win, they will lose all interest in the topic.

2) Law and order matters. Two black veterans of the Houston Police Department were shot yesterday (and one killed) as they responded to a domestic abuse call. The shots were fired by the abuser responsible for the incident. The abuser was an illegal alien. The left is silent. They will not condemn illegal aliens, (they believe they should be given safe haven in sanctuary cities) and Black Lives Matter is conspicuously silent. So, I’m sorry, but time and time again, when minority officers of the law are attacked and even murdered, is there some reason in God’s world that their lives do not matter?

3) The Hunter Biden laptop treasure trove is real. It has not been denied, and it is now being validated by more and more sources. In short, it stinks. My guess is the Main Stream Media will succeed in burying the story until after the election. What a shame. What a double standard! Can you imagine if this absolute sleeze was uncovered about Donald Trump and Donald Trump Jr? It would literally be all consuming on the news. Shame on the media.

One more point; if we lose the Senate, God help us all. We need to win Maine or North Carolina, and Joni Ernst needs to keep her seat in Iowa. Imagine a blue wave, when we lose the White House and the Senate. Bernie, Senator Warren and AOC will be exultant. They will ram bills by and through Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer and put them on the President’s desk for signature. Does anyone actually think a President Biden will be able to slow down the progressive train? OK, it was a rhetorical question.

Enough. Viva la vino tinto!

Anarchy!

October 2, 2020 by Jim Pierce 14 Comments

The President is now in Walter Reed Hospital. Surely, we all wish him well, right? Well, no. Zara Rahim was Hillary Clinton’s spokesperson. Last night, immediately upon hearing that the Trumps had tested positively, she tweeted “I hope he dies.” You don’t believe me, do you? Click here to see for yourself. Hard to imagine, right?

I have been very consistent for years. Some of you readers fall way to the right of me and many way to the left. That’s ok. All I have ever sought to do is get people to think. The reactions to the President’s illness from many on the left are disgusting. They are vile. There are no nicer words. This woman was part of Hillary’s inner circle. God help us.

I suppose today’s blog title could easily apply to this week’s debate. Sorry to my ultra lefty and righty friends who think the debate was a wonderful result for their respective candidate. It was horrible. Both men were small. A rational, educated, thoughtful viewer could not stomach that debate. Why do I say that? Go ahead and take some time to read the entirely civilized, thoughtful Lincoln-Douglas debate papers. Those, my friends, were debates. Click here to remind yourself when civility, intellect, and coherence used to matter.

Now more on the debate, albeit briefly. When Chris Wallace asked if the former Vice president would condemn Antifa, Mr. Biden simply said “Antifa is an idea.” Ummm, no, Mr. Biden, Antifa is not just an idea. It is a movement. Even the NY Times admits that. On September 28th 2020, it wrote, “Antifa members campaign against actions they view as authoritarian, homophobic, racist or xenophobic. Although antifa is not affiliated with other movements on the left …its members sometimes work with other local activist networks that are rallying around the same issues…” Here is the irony. Antifa is, in theory, dedicated to fighting Facsism. Are you kidding? Their front line leaders are the latter day Nazi brown shirts! It’s their way or the highway. Give me a break! So why would the former Vide President refuse to condemn the violence and destruction they have brought upon numerous US cities? Well, go ahead and access their website and see what happens. Please, do it now. Just search antifa.com . Well, what do you know?! I’m not going to give you the answer. You need to do it for yourself.

Since the topic is “Anarchy”, we cannot possibly ignore NYC. I remember the 1960s and 1970’s. NYC was a lawless hellhole. Decades of liberal leadership had destroyed the greatest city in America. By the end of the 70’s, it was bankrupt, and the Fed actually had to bail it out. Enter Rudy Giuliani and Michael Bloomberg. Their conservative fiscal policies and reliance on law and order saved New York, and restored it to the pre-eminent urban center in the western hemisphere. Alas, all is lost. New Yorkers have twice elected a hopeless socialist; one who believes the answer to all ills is to blame the producing class, tax it, and give his view of the “underclass” a hall pass. Mayor De Blasio has, in a heartbeat, destroyed New York City.

Covid-19 and the Antifa/BLM inspired riots and destruction only exacerbated the destruction of this great city. The Mayor refused to step up and lead. The Mayor refused to condemn violence and destruction. The Mayor refused to stand behind and defend the men and women in blue. Folks, all you need to see is this video. It happened today. Actor Rick Moranis was senselessly knocked out. Click here to watch. This is what happens without leadership, and without law and order. The unidentified thug did this because, well, why not? This is beyond vile. And guess what? Even if he ends up caught, the Mayor’s new rules put him right back on the street.

When do Americans stand up and say “no more”? We are losing our country, and we are losing it at warp speed. You may not like President Trump. If you read this column, you know I don’t. But my commitment to voting for him gets stronger by the day. The left is hell-bent on destroying this country. (And don’t even get me going on Mr. Biden’s proposed tax increases!)

Folks, the crisis is real. Put your personal dislike of the President aside. Our country’s future is on the rails, and the train is steaming full speed ahead in our direction.

Did you notice I didn’t even talk about Amy Coney Barrett? I don’t need to. She is a rock star. The irony of the women’s movement is laid bare. To oppose her is to make a mockery of the entire equal rights movement. Unless, of course, you subscribe to the notion that equal rights only apply to women endorsed by the left. Ummm, enough said.

The Goose and the Gander

September 21, 2020 by Jim Pierce 24 Comments

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, feminist pioneer and progressive icon, dies at 87 - SCOTUSblog

Just when one thought this election fall could not get more bizarre, legendary Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg succumbed (after a heroic fight) to her pancreatic cancer. While Justice Ginsburg will be honored for days, neither party wasted any time spinning their views about who should be nominating the next Supreme Court Justice, and when that nomination should happen.

There is absolutely no point arguing why the Republicans or Democrats are hypocrites. They all are; full stop.

In 2016, when the GOP thought its only hope of nominating a Conservative justice to the bench was an extremely unlikely Donald Trump victory, Mitch McConnell refused to bring Judge Garland’s nomination to the Senate floor for a vote. Every leading democrat repudiated Senator McConnell’s tactics and insisted that he do his job as Majority Leader by giving President Obama’s nominee his day in court (so to speak).

I am not going to do your homework for you, but I will give you the answer. To be clear, when I say that every leading democrat opined that the Senate should do its job and give Mr. Garland his hearing, I am not exaggerating. Chuck Schumer, Joe Biden, and President Obama were adamant. Even Justice Ginsburg said “There’s nothing in the Constitution that says the president stops being President in his last year.”

Ahhh, but is what is good for the goose good for the gander? Well, if you ask Chuck Schumer, Joe Biden, and Barack Obama today, they would clearly say “of course not!” And if one is to believe Justice Ginsburg’s granddaughter when she says her grandmother’s last wish was that her replacement be picked by the next President, then even the Justice apparently saw goose and gander as distinctly different. The irony of Judge Ginsburg’s alleged last wish is that even if the next President were to choose her replacement, it does not mean the choice wouldn’t be made by President Trump. So seen through that lens, her “hail mary” is not all that different from Mitch McConnell’s in 2016.

The bottom line is that it’s all about politics; it has ever been thus. Do you actually think for a second that if the roles were reversed Chuck Schumer would wait until after the election? Good Lord, please tell me you aren’t going to die on that hill!

Before you protest, let’s remember the Democrats are the party threatening to end the filibuster and expand the the number of seats on the Supreme Court if they win the majority. There is no high ground here. This is spit-balling, hard-nosed politics.

It is arguable that the longest lasting legacy from the Trump years will be in the judges appointed to the District, Circuit, and Supreme Courts. Politics have always been crude, cruel, and ugly. Yes, the civility those of us long in the tooth remember has left the building. We seem to be at the nadir. But truly, it is a complete waste of time to argue the morality of either party. It will be what it will be; there is too much at stake.

I would say what’s good for the goose is good for the gander for both parties. Live by the sword, die by the sword. Time will tell who holds the sword in November.

From Bad to Worse

June 6, 2020 by Jim Pierce 22 Comments

This is tricky stuff. The nation is reeling. So I am going to lay down the foundation for this article lest there be any confusion about my intent. I am also going to keep things short and sweet. The more words, the more chance they can be misconstrued.

George Floyd was murdered. The fact that he had a record and was high on fentanyl at the time of his death is irrelevant. He was helpless and he was murdered. I have no doubts whatsoever that those police will be held accountable.

Now for some facts (June 2nd, WSJ-by Heather MacDonald)

–In 2019, police shot 1,004 people, 235 of whom were black.

–In 2018, African Americans were responsible for 53% of the homicides in the US, and committed 60% of the known robberies. (The number of blacks in the US as a percentage of the total population is 13%.)

–In 2019, the police shot 9 unarmed black men and 19 unarmed white men.

–In 2018, there were 7,407 black homicides. The number of black deaths in the hands of police is .01% of all blacks killed that year.

–“A police officer is 18.5 times more likely to be killed by a black male than an unarmed black male is to be killed by a police officer.” 18.5 times!

–A study in Philadelphia concluded that black or hispanic officers are far more likely to shoot at African Americans than a white police officer.

–Just last weekend, in Chicago alone, 80 people were shot in drive-by shootings. 21 of them died. Of those, “the victims were overwhelmingly black.”

I could continue ad nauseam. There is no factual base for the claim there is systemic racism in the United States or within its police forces.

The farce is upon us. When the hue and cry from elected officials devolves into “abolish the police,” we have walked away from the sublime and plunged into the surreal. More importantly, when Al Sharpton shows up to rant “Get your knees off our necks!” and suggests that African Americans have had the white man’s knees on their necks for 401 years, and the only reason there are any race related issues in the United States is because of the white man’s refusal to accept the black man as an equal, it’s time to re-evaluate.

George Floyd has become the excuse for the left and the anti-American agitators to press their agendas. The main stream media have been their willing allies. George Floyd is remembered for now, but already forgotten are those who were murdered during the last 10 days of riots, pillaging, destruction of property, and total abandonment of law and order.

99.9% of the police in the US are public servants; they are here to protect and to serve. Enough already. The data does not support this insane charge of racism. If thousands of white people want to get on their knees and apologize to our African American brothers and sisters about this charge of racism, that is their choice. This is (for now, at least) America, and that is their right. It is their way of enacting life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. God bless them. But don’t tell me the facts are on their side. They just plain aren’t. This is why things have gone from bad to worse.
