The Hypocrisy of the Left

November 10, 2020 by Jim Pierce 8 Comments

I wrote an article a few days ago that managed to anger many readers who lean to the right, and (not surprisingly, I guess) please those who lean left. In the aforementioned article, I said “To be clear, just today I signed a petition for a recount in several battleground states. Do I think this was a clean election? No. Do I think voter fraud is a clear and present danger? Yes. But do I think there was such rampant fraud that SCOTUS (because that is where all roads would lead) would have enough evidence to declare the election results null and void? No.“

My main point was that when all the election litigation is said and done, my guts tell me Mr. Biden will still be the President-elect, and I implored Mr. Trump to exit with grace and dignity.

If I am wrong, and Mr. Trump’s legal team actually has enough compelling evidence to reverse the results of the election, then I will own being wrong, and I will be the first to resoundingly say “the system works!”

Now hear this. The left is borderline apopletic over the idea that Mr. Trump wants to contest the results in several battleground states. Attorney General Barr has now authorized his Justice Department to investigate all “valid” claims of fraud and/or miscreant behavior. The horror!

What an utter load of manure. A considerable portion of the left never (and I mean never) accepted Donald Trump as a duly elected President. They then spent four years trying to de-legitimatize him. They stopped at nothing. They lied. They fabricated an entire Russian hoax. The scandal went all the way into President Obama’s circle of knowledge, and included the sitting CIA Director, and, of course, Hillary Clinton. They have never been held accountable.

We live in a world of double standards. What should be abundantly clear to all is that there is a progressive narrative and it is almost unilaterally supported by the main stream media. It is virtually impossible to get to the actual nub of any story. Media reports today are based upon layer after layer of subterfuge. It is embarrassing. It is scary.

I am not ready to say I was wrong when I wrote that the net result of all this litigation will still be the election of Mr. Biden. But I am ready to say I should have given more time to acknowledging the stunning hypocrisy of the left. Even Mr. Biden has morphed within a week from saying that every vote must count to saying “The people of this nation have spoken. They have delivered us a clear victory. A convincing victory.”

Ummm. There is nothing “clear” or “convincing” about last week’s election. That is the stuff of cloud-cuckoo land.

The attacks from the left have already begun. It is very reminiscent of the Nazi Brown Shirts in the 1930’s. AOC is sending tweets threatening to keep lists of all those who supported Donald Trump. Nancy Pelosi is refusing to repudiate socialism. Hey, folks, you get what you pay for!

As George W Bush said in his statement over the weekend, “President Trump has the right to request recounts and pursue legal challenges, and any unresolved issues will be properly adjudicated. The American people can have confidence that this election was fundamentally fair, its integrity will be upheld, and its outcome is clear.” I agree, and the fact that millions of those who lean left think it is outrageous that the President hasn’t yet conceded, is, well, hypocritical! I guess we shouldn’t expect any other behavior from them. It is their way or the highway and it has ever been thus.

To be clear, I am writing solely about the integrity of the American election process, without which we are nothing. Nada. Zippo. All Americans should want to know that all (and only) legal votes have been counted. The last thing Mr. Biden should want is the knowledge that he would take the oath in January, and a minimum of 70,000,000 people think he won by crooked devices. Joe Biden should be first in line to advocate for a clear and decisive victory. Where we stand now is anything but that.

High Crimes and Poppycock!

October 11, 2019 by Jim Pierce 8 Comments

Lest I bore you into a catatonic nap, allow me to say one more time, I do not like Donald Trump. He is a narcissist. He sets a horrible example for our kids. He is not invited to my house for dinner.

OK, are we clear?

Now, let’s talk about what is happening in the United States House of Representatives. Nancy Pelosi allowed herself to get backed int a corner by her progressives, and Adam Schiff was only too happy to carry the impeachment torch. Folks, it is poppycock. And in case that word is too arcane, here are a few synonyms: balderdash, beans, bilge, blarney, blather, blither, bosh, bull, bunk, claptrap, codswallop, crock, drivel, fiddle-paddle, flapdoodle, folderol, fudge, garbage, hogwash, guff, hockey-pokey, hokum, hooey, humbug, malarkey, nonsense, piffle, rubbish, slush, stupidity, tommyrot, tosh, and twaddle.

Get the point? Have you read the Ukraine call transcript? I have read every word of it; several times. There is NOTHING there. This is a farce! Hah, another synonym! The democrats are literally concocting a fabricated set of circumstances when the exhonorating evidence is already public, and the other person on the phone (that would be Ukraine’s President, Volodymyr Zelensky) has stated publicly that at no time has President Trump or any of his proxies suggested aid has been or will be withheld pending investigation of Joe Biden or his son.

I don’t care about Hunter Biden. The talking heads on the right should drop the subject. I do care about the possibility of Ukranian involvement in the 2016 election. Why isn’t that the subject matter at hand?

I know some of my readers hate Donald Trump so much that they will grasp at any straw to validate their feelings. Trump haters, you are being conned. This is politics 101. Don’t be a victim.

We have another 12 1/2 months before the election. If history is a guide, don’t worryTrump bashers, the President will give you plenty more up about which to get riled. In the meantime, do yourselves a favor and focus on playoff baseball. It’s much more interesting, and nobody is conning you.

Speechless

September 3, 2018 by Jim Pierce 16 Comments

Several people have asked me why I am writing so infrequently. Well, there are a few reasons. My job is keeping me pretty busy, so that’s legit, right? Mostly though, it is because day-to-day politics have left me speechless. Both parties are so hopelessly mired in the quagmire of partisan despair. Politicians and the political regime (the press, politicos, talking heads) have become incredibly petty. In short, I have OD’d on simple-minded hacks on both sides of the political fence.

How bad is it? It’s so bad that a Mitt Romney or George H. W. Bush would be considered to liberal or “out of touch” to secure their party’s nomination for President. And is equally so bad that a John Kerry or Al Gore would be too conservative to secure their party’s nomination for President.

In a way, the democrat’s have an easier problem to address. There is a democrat center and a democrat left. Any democrat is too liberal for me, but that is not the issue. The dems face a horrible challenge; namely, the relentless run to the left. Folks, it’s not just any old left, but a left that crosses the line into the land of socialists and hatred of capitalism. That is a scary place, yet the democrats seem incapable of stopping that slide into the abyss.

The GOP faces a bigger problem, largely because no one even knows what or where the GOP actually is. In short, I would argue there isn’t a Republican Party. There is a loose-knit, semi-confederation of former GOP stalwarts, libertarians, tea-partiers, and Trumpster wannabes. What a mess. The President has them scared of their own shadows. Sure, in private they wring their hands and speak with despair of his unseemly behavior. But in public their hands are tied. They are between a rock and a hard place. It’s a regular old dog’s breakfast.

The SCOTUS process is perhaps the only current event where the “Republicans” can act as one. For all of Trump’s faults he is two for two with superior Supreme Court nominations. Judges Gorsuch and Kavanaugh are not right wing zealots. There is simply nothing wrong about them. They are as pure and unadulterated as they come. They are not there to write law; they are on the bench to interpret it. This is what great judges do. Elizabeth Warren and Chuck Schumer make themselves smaller and smaller every time they talk with disdain about Judge Kavanaugh.

Just before I lose my more moderate or (dare I say) liberal readers, allow me to also say I didn’t think it is possible for me to dislike President Trump more than I did, but I do! He is a horrible man. Alas, we remain in a better place as a country than we would be had Hillary Clinton continued the miserable, economy-crushing policies of Mr. Obama. My greatest fear remains the possibility that Mr. Trump has not told the truth about something presently under investigation by Mr. Mueller. If his morals end up being as bad as his personality, the entire nation will suffer. History tells us that the voter backlash will be extreme, and in today’s environment the definition of “extreme” is “socialism”. The swing to the left will decapitate you if you get in the way of that blade.

For the sake of the United States, let’s hope this self-centered man is telling the truth. We can ill afford a wholesale shift to the far left. But I digress. The main point is that both parties are listless amoeba; pandering to extreme voices, taking whatever shape is necessary to mollify their extreme base, and afraid to do the right thing for fear of reprisal. We’ve been in messes before, and no doubt will be again. But this one is a doozy. I remain virtually speechless!

Batshit Crazy

August 26, 2017 by Jim Pierce 18 Comments

When does the madness end?

In 1933 the Nazi’s organized a campaign to burn books. Yes, books were written by intellectuals, and intellectuals were Jews; ergo, all books had to go. This video ( click here) shows Joseph Goebbels getting the boys all riled up.

From 1966 to 1976, Chairman Mao murdered millions of Chinese in the name of Communist purity. Their sin? Their alleged bourgeois tendencies threatened the very foundation of the communist revolution. They needed to disappear! (For more detail, click here. )

Religion is certainly not exempt from the abuse of power. The Catholic Inquisition (read more here) was used as weapon to stifle dissent for centuries. More recently, the Taliban has attempted to totally eliminate any vestige from the past in order to ensure total domination of its people and allegiance to its twisted interpretation of its creed. Who can forget the annihilation of the 5th century Buddhist statues back in March of 2001? (click here for a video of that barbaric act.)

I could go on and on. History is replete with horrific tales of man trying to eradicate history in order to create his more perfect vision of himself.

And so we come to the United States in 2017; a polarized nation, to say the least. The polarization is not just between the traditional left and right. No, this is more complex. We have massive divisions between left and right, but cutting across those customary lines are levels of anger, disenfranchisement, frustration, and isolation. In essence, we find ourselves in yet another William Holden moment. Some of you may remember. Others are too young. Click here to see for yourself. If you just kept reading, I implore you to go back and click on that link. I dare you to watch it and not feel some level of connection.

I have been moaning about the PC left for the past several years. My focus has been on the continued leftward trajectory of our education system up to and through the universities. I have highlighted the reality that the capital L in Liberal Arts no longer exists. Our universities are markedly small case l these days. They do not teach anything close to the classical definition of Liberal. Our children are exposed to endless palaver demonizing anything traditional or conservative. Hillary may have once written that ‘it takes a village”, but as far as I am concerned, it takes a remarkably strong family unit to offset whatever garbage one’s child is likely to be taught throughout the entire spectrum of educational exposure. In short, the “village” has become the problem!

The events in Charlottesville two weeks ago triggered yet another wave of knee-jerk reactions from the progressive left. Now let’s be clear. The President is operating in his own universe. I have no idea what motivates him to say the things he does. More importantly, I have no idea why he says the things he does the way he does!

Cutting through all Mr. Trump’s  apparent lack of sensitivity to the events that led to the loss of life in Charlottesville, the President also made some irrefutably true statements. When he called out groups on the left (Antifa, for example) for fomenting hatred and violence, he was absolutely right. The left has long been given a free pass on the destruction of property and violence toward its fellow man, all in the name of a good protest. The double standard is appalling.

It is the aftermath of that regrettable day that is actually the focus of today’s short tome. The nationwide movement to tear down all statues of anyone who fought for the South in the Civil War is simply appalling. And the PC left wasted no time. Scores of universities and municipalities have jumped on the bandwagon. Yes sir, the South must not rise again. Let’s simply pretend it never existed to begin with! Let’s eliminate all memories of the South and those people who were its leaders!

Ladies and Gentlemen. History is art. It is a painting; something to look at and study: a canvas from which to learn. If you don’t like the art,  create your own. You can’t destroy the painting just because you don’t like it.

I could digress and discuss what an amazing man Robert E. Lee was. Alas, I would lose the plot. That is not the point of this blog. My thesis is simple. These people who wish to eradicate a major part of our nation’s history are simply batshit crazy! One cannot apply morals of today to events of yesterday. That is not the way history works. Unless, of course, Chairman Mao and the Taliban are one’s heroes. Then, I suppose, eliminating all statues of Confederate Generals makes complete sense.

And where exactly does it end? Mayor Bill de Blasio of New York City is presently studying whether to take down statues of Christopher Columbus and Peter Stuyvesant! You can’t make this stuff up! (Click here to see the article. )

The ironies implicit in all this tomfoolery are many. Perhaps the ultimate joke on people is the notion that today’s activists who seek to eradicate our nation’s history do so having taken by storm some form of self-assumed higher moral ground. The imperfections of the past must be eliminated so the perfection of the present is all that we know in the years ahead! Wait, where exactly is that perfection to be found? Antifa? Nancy Pelosi? Chuck Schumer? George Soros? Maxine Waters? Bill de Blasio?

You get the picture? They’re all batshit crazy.

Never try to pretend the people who made our nation what it is today simply did not exist, merely because you don’t think they were good people. Leave that mentality to the fascists, communists, religious zealots, and totalitarians.

Study your American history. It’s  fascinating; warts and all. Learn from it. Become a better person because of it. Embrace American Exceptionalism and appreciate the fact that we are who we are because of our incredibly complicated history. Rise above the PC clamor. In short, don’t be batshit crazy!

Dazed and Confused

June 4, 2017 by Jim Pierce 3 Comments

Hillary continues to blame everything under the sun for her election loss.

Can anyone actually put today’s politics into rational perspective? I don’t know about you, but sometimes it is all a bit too daunting. And perhaps sometimes others should do the talking. This is one of those times. On June 1, Peggy Noonan wrote “I don’t want to beat up on Hillary Clinton. She thought she’d win and she lost, embarrassingly, to a man she considered deeply unworthy. At the same time she won the popular vote by 2.9 million. It would take anyone time to absorb these things emotionally and psychologically.

But wow. Her public statements since defeat have been malignant little masterpieces of victimhood-claiming, blame-shifting and unhelpful accusation. They deserve censure.”

She then said “She lost because America is a hopelessly reactionary country in which dark forces fight a constant “rearguard action” to “turn back the clock.” She lost because Republicans are both technologically advanced and underhanded. Democrats, for instance, use data and analytics to target and rouse voters—“better messaging.” Republicans, on the other hand, use “content farms” and make “an enormous investment in falsehoods, fake news, call it what you will.” Democrats “did not engage in false content.” She lost because of the Russians: “Who were they coordinating with, or colluding with?”

She lost because of “voter suppression” and “unaccountable money flowing in against me.” She lost because the Democratic National Committee didn’t help her. “I inherit nothing from the Democratic Party. I mean it was bankrupt. . . . Its data was mediocre to poor, nonexistent, wrong. I had to inject money into it.

She lost because FBI Director James Comey told Congress the investigation regarding her email server had been reopened. “So for whatever reason . . . and I can’t look inside the guy’s mind, you know, he dumps that on me on Oct. 28, and I immediately start falling.”

She lost because she was “swimming against a historic tide. It’s very difficult historically to succeed a two-term president of your own party.” She lost because she was “the victim of a very broad assumption that I was going to win.” She lost because the news media ignored her policy positions.

And then there was sexism. “It sort of bleeds into misogyny. And let’s just be honest, you know, people who have . . . a set of expectations about who should be president and what a president looks like, you know, they’re going to be much more skeptical and critical of somebody who doesn’t look like and talk like and sound like everybody else who’s been president. Any you know, President Obama broke that racial barrier, but you know, he’s a very attractive, good-looking man.”

Oh my goodness, how she thinks.”

I could go on (or Peggy could-and did) but you get the point. As a Republican, I can’t tell you how much I hope Hillary deludes herself into considering another run at the White House. As a reasonable human being, I can’t imagine that ever happening. But good Lord, I could never imagine so much of what happens every day ever happening!

To summarize, here is my note to Hillary. ‘Hillary, enough already. Stop looking for scapegoats. You ran a horrible campaign. You had no resonating message. You cannot succeed on the politics of envy if you make people squirm when you talk. Get over it, and do so now, for your sake, your family’s sake, and out of compassion for your country.”

Moving on, I want address an issue that has been raised by two good friends. One is a registered democrat, and the other (I believe) considers herself to be independent. In both cases, they have taken umbrage at my reference to the progressive left and “dimocrats” as too broad and sweeping a characterization, and insulting to those who feel unjustly swept up in the wide swath of my broom. In hindsight, I do tend to throw all democrats to the wolves when I refer to the imponderably inane policies promulgated by their spokespeople. And for that, I apologize. There are obviously myriad forms of democrats just as there are many factions in the GOP. It is not fair to throw all who voted for President Obama or Hillary into the same fruit basket. Some deserve an opportunity to repent! Suffice to say, I will attempt to be more prescriptive in my future diatribes.

Moving on. The President’s overseas trip was good. I love the fact that he restored relations with the Sunni leaders in the Middle East, reiterated his support for Israel as our staunchest ally in the region, and visited the Pope. It was well conceived, and well executed. His ensuing NATO message was clear. He supports NATO, but deadbeats need to pay their fair share. (NATO also believes he supports the organization. Click here to read more.) Look, I don’t like the way President Trump says and does a lot of things. He is abrasive and can act like a bully. But at the end of the day, he is absolutely right to take on those NATO allies who have drafted on the back of our economic engine for far too long.

The budget is outstanding. (Click here if you want to read about it.) If any semblance of this White House budget is passed, we will see economic growth and, ultimately, increased revenues to the Treasury. (Once and for all, let’s put this piece of democrat propaganda to rest once and for all. In spite of all protestations to the contrary, the Laffer curve works. It worked wonderfully after the Reagan tax cuts. Yes, the deficit increased, but that is because we were in an arms build-up war with the Soviet Union. The irrefutable truth is that revenues to the treasury increased during those years. Click here to read more on this topic.) Just as important, we will see curtailment of runaway Federal spending. Folks, I said it in 2008, 2012, and 2016. We cannot keep spending money we don’t have! Sure, it would be wonderful to throw money at every problem that comes our way. Allow me to ask you a question. Is that the way you handle things in your family? Well, a nation is no different. It has to make tough decisions, and those tough decisions have been deferred for decades. If President Trump can actually make the buck stop “here”, (nod to President Truman) all power to him.

The Russia thing. Yawn. The only part of this whole story that intrigues me is if, at the end of the day, Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller ends up focusing on the Obama administration  surveillance activities before and after the election, and conscious decisions taken to “unmask” names of American citizens; names that may have surfaced during (possible illegal) covert intelligence operations. This, folks, is where it could get interesting. Of course, if Mr. Mueller’s investigations do head in that direction, you may rest assured the main stream media will quickly lose interest.

And so there you have it. Not too much happening, right? Are you dazed and confused? I am.

WTF!

May 19, 2017 by Jim Pierce 14 Comments

Just when you thought it couldn’t get any more bizarre, lo and behold, it is! Look, let’s be clear; this President doesn’t do himself any favors. But let’s be equally clear; this media is out to get him. Full stop! Drastic times call for drastic measures! Perhaps the White House press room would be better off being restored as the indoor swimming pool it once was. (Click here for that little piece of history.) Alas, instead of a swimming pool, the media room has devolved into a cesspool. President Trump may rankle a tad, but the fervor and rancor of the leftist press is just plumb wrong! These people are simply out to destroy Donald Trump. They could care less about the cost to the country. They detest the man. They will stop at nothing.

There is not one scintilla of actual evidence that the President has done anything illegal; zip, nada, zero, nothing! There is innuendo. There is rumor. There is malicious gossip. There are plenty unnamed sources. There is enough fodder for left leaning journalists to write until their fingers fall off. But there is no smoking gun. Whether the issue is Trump campaign officials talking to Russian officials or the firing of Comey, while dozens of naysayers have alleged multiple sins, no one has proof that anything untoward has actually occurred. Houston Congressman Al Green actually took to the floor of the House this week and called for President Trump’s impeachment! If you don’t believe me, you can watch it here.

Just so we are on the same page here, I will attempt to paraphrase what the left is saying. It goes something like this. “Fellow Americans, we detest the President. We dislike everything about him. He appalls us. We hate his politics, and we hate him. Our savior, the beloved Saint Hillary lost to him because he  cheated. He obviously colluded with the Russians and the Russians helped him steal the election. And then, when FBI Director Comey started getting uncomfortably close to discovering the truth of the shenanigans that allowed him to steal the election from her, Trump fired him. His administration is one big lie. He must be impeached!”

That, in a nutshell, is what the left thinks. They are flat out crazy.

To be clear, as I have attempted to be from day one, I am not saying that President Trump hasn’t done anything wrong. I am saying I don’t know if he has or not, and neither do you or anyone else. The dim-ocrats know nothing more than you or I do. And that, folks, is why all this hue and cry in DC is just a large turd pile.

The talking heads and politicians on the left need to put their Saul Alinsky books on deflection and propaganda back on their shelves and (respectively) focus on reporting real news and governing once again. Enough is enough! But of course, it isn’t and I fear we have only witnessed the beginning of what will be an endless attack on President Trump. As Winston Churchill said, “This is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. It is merely the end of the beginning!”

Whoops!

November 9, 2016 by Jim Pierce 10 Comments

Trump Acceptance Speech

What to say other than “I was wrong again!” I need to take this moment to acknowledge to Doug Holmes and Roger Sahni (two unrelenting Trumpsters) that they were right!

The United States has had its own Brexit moment. Virtually every pollster in the country was wrong. Pierce Wire was wrong. The main stream media is in a state of apoplexy. The sky is falling!

I have friends who think the world has just ended, and all that is left is for us to mop up the debris.

OK, people, slow down!

We have a Republican Congress and Donald Trump. We have two years (at least) to implement meaningful tax reform (which, if done properly, will generate hundreds of thousands of new jobs here in the U.S.) and to repeal and replace Obamacare. And yes (to all those nattering nabobs who say the Republicans do not have a viable health care plan) we do have a great way forward. Click here to see it.

Let there be no end of celebration in acknowledgement of the fact that we have just staved off a liberal bias to the Supreme Court that would have discarded the Constitution to the dustbin of relevance had Hillary won this election.

Will there be a new wall and will Mexico pay? I doubt it, but frankly, in the overall scheme of things, it makes for amusing theater. Trump expresses himself horribly. But if one really listens, he will stand by people of all races, colors, and creeds. All they need to do is be in the United States legally. Sounds like a fair trade to me.

Will we abandon our commitments to our allies? No.

Will Donald Trump start a nuclear war? I mean, are there people who actually believe that nonsense?

Will Trump endeavor to be a President to all Americans, as he said he would do in his victory speech? He is a narcissist, but I actually take him at his word on that front.

Will we finally have a President who will call Islamic Terrorism by its name? Thank God, yes.

Will he keep saying things that make you cringe? Probably.

Will he really tear up our trade agreements? I don’t know. I suspect he will instruct our trade negotiators to obtain concessions that he can point to as having fulfilled some kind of promise. Time will tell.

Will he work with Congress to address the deficit? I believe he will.

Will we be in a “better place” two years from January? I believe we will.

Will he delegate? Yes. VP elect Pence will probably have a really interesting job; one worth more than a warm bucket of spit.

Will Giuliani, Christie, Gingrich, Dr. Ben Carson, and other loyalists end up in D.C.? Yes.

I was disappointed in Hillary not giving a speech last night, but both she and the President took the high road today. Let’s see if it lasts.

I hope the democrats behave with grace. The President has been most un-presidential of late. He played the race card on Trump. Now, on January 20, he has to stand with him and be part of a peaceful transition of power. It is the quintessential American moment, made all the more striking by this strange election year.

Who knows, maybe Trump will lean over and ask him if he has his birth certificate with him!

The Fat Lady Sang Nearly a Year Ago

October 27, 2016 by Jim Pierce 10 Comments

fat ladyPlease don’t tell me you believe the recent spate of polls showing this Presidential race tightening. Folks, the fat lady sang, and she sang nearly a year ago. Seriously, most of the remnants of the Big Tent that was the Republican Party have been deluding themselves for at least a year. We live in strange times. The Democrats have nominated the most flawed, dishonest, disingenuous, elitist candidate possible, and yet their nominee will win. The election was over the day it became clear Donald Trump was going to wipe the Republican slate clean during the long, convoluted, mindlessly self-defeating primary process. Indeed, we have met the enemy and he is us.

Readers of Pierce Wire will know I am no fan of Donald Trump. Please don’t misunderstand me. I am voting for him. On the issues of taxes and the Supreme Court alone, he gets my vote. She (whom I cannot call by name without summoning bile) is simply so bad it defies the imagination that she will be our next President. Alas, barring a cataclysmic event, she will be our next President.

It could be so bad that we actually cede the Senate back to the socialists; whoops, I mean democrats. Even the House of Representatives may drop to a single digit majority. Woe are we. The ultimate woe would be losing the House too. Then even Katy won’t be able to bar the door. The horses will be out of the stable and you can kiss what we grew up knowing as “American Capitalism” goodbye. I’m not kidding. You’ll need to buckle your seat belts and get ready to take a ride on the redistribution express. She would make the O-man look like a novice.

From the ashes we will have to determine whether we want to rebuild the fire that was the Republican Party. We will have to figure out whether there are enough people “out there” who care about:

–celebrating traditional values,

–policies that help people lift themselves up,

–the notion that hard work should be rewarded, not taxed into oblivion,

–consistency and strength abroad, and, perhaps with tongue slight pressed into cheek,

–calling Islamic terror what it is without worrying about PC recriminations!

In short, we need to ascertain whether or not we can coalesce around the notion that we are the party that cares most about those who have been left behind, and it is the Republican economic platform (not Donald Trump’s inwardly focused deception) that will provide our great population with more chances to succeed.

We’ll need a new generation of leaders. Tom Cotton from Arkansas comes to mind. Click here to learn more about him.  It will take smart, dedicated public servants with an ability to connect with every day folk for the Republicans to emerge from the depths of the swamp into which they have willingly hurled themselves.

The tryouts for the opera and the opera itself were one and the same. Our chances of victory began and ended in the primaries. The fat lady sang months and months ago. It’s over.

Have I cheered you up?

He’s a Horse’s Ass but She is Simply Unacceptable

October 2, 2016 by Jim Pierce 16 Comments

Donald Trump October 2016We all have certain memories of our parents. My father never  minced words. That trait didn’t always help him, but no one who called him a friend ever thought he was anything but the real McCoy. Whenever someone got under his skin, that person was a “horse’s ass”. I would ask, “Dad, why don’t you like so and so?” Almost inevitably (!), he would answer,”because he’s a horse’s ass.” It was really pretty simple. He didn’t separate the men from the boys. He separated the men from the horse’s asses. (So to speak)

The more this campaign progresses, the more I cannot escape the inescapable; if my dad were alive today, and he were to opine on the subject of Donald Trump, the answer would inevitably be “He’s a horse’s ass!”

You see, Donald Trump is simply unbearable. His behavior is repugnant. He is a mean, school yard bully. He listens to no one, and picks fights with anyone, anywhere, anytime. If attacked or questioned, he lashes out without thinking. He digs himself into holes and then, rather than climb out, he starts filling in the dirt while still in the hole!

What has our nation become? How does a guy like Trump rise to become the Republican nominee? Have we been dumbed down to a society of Kardashians and Real Housewives of New Jersey? Do we really admire characteristics exhibited by the likes of Donald Trump?

I get it. People are mad, and anyone and anything who/that can even remotely be associated with the “establishment” is a virtual pariah. There is no trust in anyone deemed to be from “Washington”. But Donald Trump? Really?

I was watching the Ryder Cup yesterday and marveling at how the gallery booed Rory Mcllroy and was quite relentless in its booing. I had to wonder, “am I watching a golf match?” And then I asked myself, “has Trump opened a huge can of horses’s asses?” I mean, is there no dignity left in our country? Can you imagine how Ronald Reagan or George H W Bush would react to such a total loss of decorum and manners?

We’re talking about the office of President of the United States. On one hand we have a relentlessly ambitious, pathologically liberal, unrepentant liar. Hillary is simply unacceptable. What amazes me is how many people have either forgotten or chosen to forget nearly thirty years of horrendous behavior on her part. To remember, click here. You cannot watch this and seriously tell yourself you are going to vote for her. I dare you.

If we elect Hillary Clinton, we might as well put the last nail in the coffin of Constitutional integrity. Liberal progressives view the Constitution as an obstacle to achieve their goal of social transformation and redistribution. For the left, our American history is a stain on humanity. They want to eradicate the last 300 years. Left to their devices, American history classes in grade school, high school, and college would be sociological studies in the abuses by empire over race and creed. The Protestant work ethic would be an example of elitist racism in a nation built on the suffering of the underclass. Upward mobility would be a fabrication of the gentry to convince those less fortunate to keep working harder. Gone would be the founding fathers. Gone would be the most magnificent governmental experiment in the history of man. Liberals don’t care. They are hell bent on redistribution and eradication of all things that have distinguished our great country. Make no mistake, Hillary is front and center, leading the charge.

And then on the other hand we have Donald. Oh my God!

So here I sit, knowing that I will vote for this guy. Cutting to the chase, it boils down to two words and one acronym: Supreme Court or SCOTUS, take your pick; that’s all. It’s that simple. Up to three justices may be replaced in the next four years. (We already know Anton Scalia’s seat is open and waiting on a nominee who will be approved by the Senate.) American people have been handed a game of Russian roulette for the Presidential election. In Hillary’s case, all six chambers of the revolver are already loaded. Pull the trigger and your dead. In Donald’s case, about two of them are loaded. There is at least a chance that you survive. And that is how bad it is.

For those who may vote for the Libertarian or Green parties, I only say this. Unless you are a diehard Libertarian or environmentalist, you surely know you are throwing your vote into oblivion. In the case of Johnson/Weld, oblivion is near Aleppo. (Click here if you have been living in a cave!)

I’ve said it before, and I’m saying it again. Take a shot of Pepto-Bismol, hold your nose, and vote for Trump.

Mr. President, You Just Don’t Get it!

June 14, 2016 by Jim Pierce 6 Comments

Hillary and ObamaMr. President, if you want to search for reasons explaining the rise of Donald Trump, search no longer. You, sir, are the reason, and Hillary is hell bent on making sure the reason lives on! Events of the past few days provide a perfect illustration of how we find ourselves in this absolutely bizarre situation.

We find ourselves once again in the  familiar position where hands are wrung and souls are searched after the brutal attack on innocent civilians pursuing their individual rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. While both Republicans and Democrats decry one another for politicizing a horrible nightmare, the fact of the matter is that it is impossible to separate politics from the terror that took place in Florida.

Once again, the Democrats wasted no time blaming guns on the calculated murder and wounding of over 100 American citizens. Republicans just as quickly pounced on the fact that guns don’t actually kill people; people kill people. All one has to do is look at Chicago as a case in point for the complete and utter failure of strict gun control laws in stopping criminals from using guns. Once and for all, we need to move past the rhetoric and acknowledge that taking guns away from law abiding citizens will never (ever) stop criminals from using guns!

But the whole gun control debate is a red herring. The issue at hand, folks, remains one that has been the case for years. We are in an undeclared war with radical Islam: an idea used by proponents of envy and hate who wish to kill everyone of us; full stop. To date, the Obama Administration (including former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton) has refused to acknowledge the enemy. Instead, they have referred to “terror” as the enemy. No, Mr. President, terror is the method; ISIL, ISIS, Al Qaeda, (the list goes on) are the instruments; But radical Islam is the enemy!

Today, the President, in as mocking and haughty a tone as imaginable, attacked his “friends on the other side of the aisle” and Mr. Trump as being simplistic morons who clearly do not grasp the complexities of modern statesmanship. You can hear (and read) for yourself how Mr. Obama addressed the nation by clicking here. The President brushed aside years of criticism regarding his unwillingness to call the enemy what it actually is by saying “There is no magic to the phrase ‘radical Islam’. It is a political talking point.” Well, there you have it. No Mr. President, it is not a “political talking point.” It is an ugly, malformed, abomination of a religion whose followers live solely to destroy all who do not bend to their will. We are at war with this thing called radical Islam and all who subscribe to its sick doctrine. You Mr. President, (and yes, you, Mrs. Clinton) even today refuse to acknowledge the enemy. It is nauseating.

The President and Mrs. Clinton say Donald Trump is fueling the flames of terror’s fires with his anti-Muslim rhetoric. You know what? They may be right. But what they don’t understand is that their tepid, politically correct, milquetoast, (dare I even say mamby pamby?) refusal to name the enemy is the very cause for the rise of Donald Trump! Oh, the bitter taste of irony’s pill! Donald Trump would not be the presumptive nominee if millions of Americans were not pissed off. Sorry, there is no other way to say it.

So there we have it. The President and Mrs. Clinton are appalled at the behavior of their political love child. Perhaps if they would stand up and start telling it like it is, their creation would disappear into one of his many towers. But don’t count on it. Neither the President nor Mrs. Clinton  have a clue. And thus we will see this American tragedy continue to play itself out.
