From Bad to Worse

This is tricky stuff. The nation is reeling. So I am going to lay down the foundation for this article lest there be any confusion about my intent. I am also going to keep things short and sweet. The more words, the more chance they can be misconstrued.

George Floyd was murdered. The fact that he had a record and was high on fentanyl at the time of his death is irrelevant. He was helpless and he was murdered. I have no doubts whatsoever that those police will be held accountable.

Now for some facts (June 2nd, WSJ-by Heather MacDonald)

–In 2019, police shot 1,004 people, 235 of whom were black.

–In 2018, African Americans were responsible for 53% of the homicides in the US, and committed 60% of the known robberies. (The number of blacks in the US as a percentage of the total population is 13%.)

–In 2019, the police shot 9 unarmed black men and 19 unarmed white men.

–In 2018, there were 7,407 black homicides. The number of black deaths in the hands of police is .01% of all blacks killed that year.

–“A police officer is 18.5 times more likely to be killed by a black male than an unarmed black male is to be killed by a police officer.” 18.5 times!

–A study in Philadelphia concluded that black or hispanic officers are far more likely to shoot at African Americans than a white police officer.

–Just last weekend, in Chicago alone, 80 people were shot in drive-by shootings. 21 of them died. Of those, “the victims were overwhelmingly black.”

I could continue ad nauseam. There is no factual base for the claim there is systemic racism in the United States or within its police forces.

The farce is upon us. When the hue and cry from elected officials devolves into “abolish the police,” we have walked away from the sublime and plunged into the surreal. More importantly, when Al Sharpton shows up to rant “Get your knees off our necks!” and suggests that African Americans have had the white man’s knees on their necks for 401 years, and the only reason there are any race related issues in the United States is because of the white man’s refusal to accept the black man as an equal, it’s time to re-evaluate.

George Floyd has become the excuse for the left and the anti-American agitators to press their agendas. The main stream media have been their willing allies. George Floyd is remembered for now, but already forgotten are those who were murdered during the last 10 days of riots, pillaging, destruction of property, and total abandonment of law and order.

99.9% of the police in the US are public servants; they are here to protect and to serve. Enough already. The data does not support this insane charge of racism. If thousands of white people want to get on their knees and apologize to our African American brothers and sisters about this charge of racism, that is their choice. This is (for now, at least) America, and that is their right. It is their way of enacting life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. God bless them. But don’t tell me the facts are on their side. They just plain aren’t. This is why things have gone from bad to worse.

Trumperona Virus

Oh, some of you are going to go after me for this one. There are a few things I need to cover.

–The ruckus over naming the origin of COVID-19 is so utterly predictable. A viral agent born of circumstances in Wuhan Province in China, and hidden by the Chinese Government for months (our experts were not allowed in the Country to assist and understand the issues at hand) is referred to as the “Chinese Flu” by President Trump. The main stream media is up in arms. Calling this bear of a flu the “Chinese Flu” is RACIST”! Check out this brief exchange between the President and a member of the White House Press Corps. Click here. You see, sorry, but he’s right. Now, go ahead. Fire away. I think his utterly Trumpian response speaks for itself, and as ungodly as it seems, he is right.

–This virus sucks. I take it personally, as I am smack dab in the exposed zone. I also marvel at the lack of data available to the general public. I could drag this blog on for pages with the information I have gleaned. Big deal. The best experts in the world cannot agree on whether the virus thrives only in colder climates, or whether humidity is a factor. No one knows whether we are pulling ourselves out of the dustbin of viral mania in a month or 6 months. There are odds, and there are theories. No one knows.

–We do know that clean hands and social distance matter. For the love of God folks, pay attention to that!

–Our US economy will be crushed. This is going to be a horrible year. Sorry, my friends, but for those of you existing outside the US, if our economy tanks, that doesn’t bode well for you. That also sucks, but the die is cast. Those of us living in oil dependent economies will feel the pain even more.

–Now enter the conspiracy folks. Soooo, are China and Russia (implicitly, if not more overtly) playing the end game here? Does China give a flip if it takes a short term hit? Historically and culturally, the answer is “no”. In Russia, Putin remains committed to returning to yesteryear’s glory. He will endure short term pain to kill off the private sector driven Permian Basin. So really, is it crazy to ponder whether the Chinese government thinks rather highly of this C-Virus moment? The US economy is bering crushed. Ummmmm……

–Is it possible that the Chinese and Russians have decided perhaps Mr. Trump is not the patsy they had anticipated? Could forces be at work to ensure a Joe Biden victory? You tell me.

–What role has the main stream media (and for once, if not belatedly, I include Fox News in this category) played in “disinforming” on this issue? Well, Vogue, The Atlantic, The Washington Post, The New York Times, and others bear responsibility for stirring the proverbial Trump pot so fast and furiously that they have lost sight of the target; namely, to help us reduce the threat of this scourge. Their reporting has been biased and non-fact based. They hate the President, They will stop at nothing to derail his re-election campaign. But to the point, yes, a very strong argument could be made that we were late to prepare for testing. But this argument cannot be made in isolation. One must not lose sight of the fact that this event was covered up for nearly two months. While on the introspection train, let’s also not forget that on January 31, the President imposed travel restrictions for passengers incoming from China. The hue and cry from the left was “RACISM!’

–Poppycock! Thank goodness he took early action. There were still hundreds of thousands who entered in December and January, but that is beyond anyone’s control. I posit for your consideration that he acted faster than any democrat President would have done.

–Is this much ado about nothing? No, it is not. The worst has yet to manifest itself in the US. Anyone over 60 thinks about it every day. Believe me.

–The media hysteria has helped roil the markets. Anyone involved in the equity investments has felt the pain. People are worth 40% less than they were two weeks ago. That hurts. That matters. For those younger followers, this means the same people who are most exposed to COVID-19 are also most sensitive to retirement savings; not a comfortable feeling.

We will survive. We shall endure. But this one is tough. The world order since WWII is being ripped asunder. The threats used to be purely foreign. Now they are as strong within the halls of Congress as they are overseas. It’s mind boggling. It’s absurd. But it is real. No matter what happens between now and November, please think long and hard about what a vote for the left will do to exacerbate this madness.

Let free markets reign-yes, Trump lovers and haters, I appreciate the irony.  Let freedom ring.

Letting Pictures Do the Talking

I won’t be too wordy today. The State of the Union address was really good. Consistent with my last tome, (click here if you did not get a chance to read it)  the speech epitomized why we must separate the man from the mission when it comes down to personal likes and dislikes. The mission is what matters for the United States, and the mission is a good one. This administration and a GOP run Congress are doing good things for our country. Keep your eyes on the prize folks.

A month ago, I would have said we are going to get whacked in the November mid-term elections, and we would then have to spend the last two years of the Trump administration’s time in DC parrying with a progressive, hate filled mob led by Nancy Pelosi. Now I am not so sure.

I mean, when the President of the United States celebrates the lowest black unemployment in American history, and the Congressional black caucus reacts as captured in the picture hereon, what exactly is going on? Do they see votes they have taken for granted since 1964 slipping away? Are they petrified that their minority base may actually see a pathway to living some of the American dream? God forbid if the private sector becomes the provider of opportunity, rather than big brother in DC doling out guaranteed outcomes and perpetual unemployment!

Steny Hoyer, Nancy Pelosi, Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren and Chuck Schumer are the spokespeople for today’s Democrat party, and they all looked like they had eaten some of that sushi Putin’s goons fed to former KGB agent Litvinenko in London back in 2006. They dressed and acted as though they were at a funeral. The only times they ever came close to clapping about anything was only after they looked around the room to see whether any Democrats were actually clapping. The word “clapping” is a bit of an exaggeration. They managed to make their left and right hands touch upon occasion, if only to see if they could match the sound of a pin dropping.

If you are reading this article, you care enough to know that Nancy Pelosi called the myriad bonuses American workers have received (as a direct result of passage of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017) “crumbs” and “pathetic”. Given an opportunity to retract her comments, she doubled down and repeated them a week later. My friends, just how out of touch are these people? $1,000 bonuses represent real money delivered to real people.

We have seen wonderful stories about pay raises, bonuses, repatriated dollars and investment plans/commitments almost every day since the tax bill was passed. This is not a plan for the wealthy. Tax reform will help our hard working middle class, and it will create more employment opportunity for those striving to enter the middle class. You see, a rising tide really does lift all boats.

The Democrats appear to be stuck on two themes. If it is about taxes, the playbook calls for running campaigns  based on envy and greed. If the topic has to do with any of our pressing social issues, the lens must be focused on racism. Indeed, it seems all Republicans are greedy racists.

I think the argument is getting really stale, and most (not all) Americans see right through the pitiful, pandering, populist, shameful, insulting nature of the Democrat gameplan. Of course, the mid-term elections will be the litmus test. The GOP needs to run a spirited campaign, and take absolutely nothing for granted. If you are interested about the right strategy for the 2018 mid-term elections, read this article by Newt Gingrich. He is spot on. The GOP has the right message, but it will get no help from the media and it has historically been horrible at communicating the good things it has done for its constituents. Only time will tell whether the Republicans can get the good message across over the next several months.

Righteous Indignation

This blog has never been a home for rationalizing, justifying, defending, or supporting Donald Trump. It’s author is not about to start now. That said, this blog is a home for defending and supporting traditional GOP principles. We are a nation of immigrants. It is our core and our strength. All of us are immigrants.

This week’s hullabaloo was all about President Trump’s alleged (it was, after all, in a private meeting behind closed doors) reference to Haiti and several African countries as, in short, “Shitholes”.

Lesson #1-There is no longer such a thing in Washington DC as a private meeting.

Lesson #2-Donald Trump really doesn’t care whether participants in a private meeting violate the implicit pact of silence. If he is so inclined, he will simply deny he said that which he is accused of having said.

Lesson #3-The President’s mind boggling, endless bombshells are used by his detractors  to pursue their agendas with just as much disdain for the truth as that of which they accuse the President!

In short, truth, honesty, and transparency are in short supply in Washington. “This is nothing new”, you may say. Perhaps that is the case, but certainly this administration has brought out the worst on both sides of the aisle.

Lest I lose the plot, let’s take a look at the context of the conversation in which the President is alleged to have made his defamatory remark. A group of Republican and Democrat congressional representatives were gathered to talk about immigration reform. This is when the President is alleged to have made his remark. Within 12 hours, there was global uproar. The vast majority of the tumult was about his blatant, unrepentant racism.

I’m sorry, what did I miss? Where does racism enter the equation? You see, this is classic spin. The President made a callous, very un-Presidential remark. Is anyone, at this point in time, shocked by that? But he did not say anything about race. For the record, and for balance, the President tweeted this remark. “Never said anything derogatory about Haitians other than Haiti is, obviously, a very poor and troubled country. Never said “take them out.” Made up by Dems. I have a wonderful relationship with Haitians. Probably should record future meetings – unfortunately, no trust!”

In the years 2010-1014, the biggest percentage increase in immigrants to the United States came from these countries; Saudi Arabia (up 93 percent), Bangladesh (up 37 percent), Iraq (up 36 percent), Egypt (up 25 percent), and Pakistan, India, and Ethiopia (each up 24 percent). (Click here for more details.) Now ask yourself; if, by chance, the subjects of the conversation had been Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh, Iraq, Egypt, Pakistan, India, and Ethiopia, do you think the President would have had any different comment?

His commentary had nothing to do with race. He simply thinks there are a lot of crappy countries in the world, and, surprise, surprise, a disproportionate amount of our immigrants come from those countries. You, (and I, for that matter) may argue that opening our arms to those from the most depressed countries in the world is what we are all about. The President may disagree. He would tell you that disagreement is the crux of the discussion that took place last week. Alas, that was not the proverbial take-away.

Mr. Trump’s intemperate remark (as reported by his detractors ) opened the door for another round of media and late night President bashing, but the at the heart of these diatribes there lies a farce. There was wasn’t anything blatantly racist in or around his comments. They could have been about the vast majority of countries from which immigrants flee to come to the United States. You see, folks, they want to leave their countries too! Why? Because THEY think their countries are shitholes, and they want to come to the last great land of opportunity and hope left on this planet.

Have you ever seen Brittany Hughes on Reality Check TV? Watch this video. Bingo!

Now, the typical media response was more like this one, when MSNBC interviewed Congressman John Lewis. I don’t have a quarrel with much of what the Congressman says in the interview. But the leap to racism is subjective! Across the board, people have played the race card on Trump based on their own feelings, tastes, and opinions. NBC published this article entitled “Is it Finally Time to call Trump a Racist?” Perhaps more than anything, they label President Trump a racist simply because they detest the man. They hate everything about him. Let me be clear one more time. There is much about President Trump that I do not like! But don’t lose your own personal virtue and integrity by throwing around disingenuous labels.

I’ve had enough of the righteous indignation. It seems to me that the President gives his detractors plenty of valid reasons to form opposing positions without them having to resort to tangential, obfuscatory, pandering attacks.

Kaepernick Gone Wild!

The Protest was one thing last year. It is quite another thing now.

What hath Colin Kaepernick wrought? This debate was very black and white (sorry, couldn’t resist) to me last year. Colin Kaepernick chose to use our National Anthem and his fame as platforms to protest what he saw as institutional injustice against black Americans. I disagreed with his decision to use the National Anthem. It seemed to me that his fame gave him plenty opportunity off the field to become as active as he desired in pursuit of social justice. But that was then. This is now.

Allow me to ask you a question. If you ran a business, and your family depended on you to bring home the bacon to make ends meet, how would you feel if one of your employees disrupted your business to make a social statement about an issue very important to that person? Can anyone seriously suggest that you wouldn’t make it very clear to that person that your place of business is not where such disruptions should occur? And can anyone seriously suggest that if that person continued to disrupt your business you wouldn’t terminate that person’s employment? Of course you would.

I cannot tell you how much I wish the President would focus on health care, tax reform, and matters pressing around the world. Weighing in on this situation during his speech in Alabama last Friday night was incendiary and unhelpful to anyone.

People already knew where they stood on this issue. The President of the United States stepping into the middle of the discussion served only to dump fuel on the fire. I guess it is the reaction of the NFL and now most team owners that bemuses me. The talking heads have droned on about how teams on Sunday displayed unity by locking arms together, or in some cases, by staying in the tunnel during the National Anthem. Give me a break! Owners and coaches were scared to death that their players would divide between themselves over the issue at hand, and the result would be implosion on the field. What we saw on Sunday was self-serving unity.

Why can’t the NFL take a non-political position and make it clear that its players are free to do whatever they want to do on their own nickel!? How can the NFL possibly condone any of this behavior during before, during, or after a game, when players are still in their uniforms, and representing their teams and the league? It is ridiculous.

So here is where I am on the issue. The whole thing is totally bonkers. The President was wrong to step into the breach. The players who are falling into line under the mantle of “unity” are either deluding themselves or too stupid to see they are being used, and NFL leadership, owners, and coaches have lost the plot; full stop.

Let’s get back to honoring our flag and our country and playing football. These players are famous. They can find other times and places to pursue their respective quests for social justice. In short, knock it off!

A Review of Trump’s Cabinet-Put Me Down as Pleasantly Surprised

General James Mad Dog MattisLet’s face it. No one knew exactly what would forthcoming from the Trumpster. I mean he is not exactly Mr. Predictable. But I have to say I am not just ok with the people he has chosen to help him lead our country, I am overwhelming supportive. Let’s take a gander, shall we?

Director of the Office of Management and Budget–Mick Mulvaney–a fiscal conservative. This guy will not condone wasteful spending or increases in our deficit.

Secretary of the Interior–Ryan Zinke–a former Navy Seal and professed lover of our land; he will be a champion of our national treasures.

Secretary of Energy–Rick Perry–former Texas Governor–I am no Perry supporter, but for a government agency we seek to downsize and simultaneously install someone who is not hostile to hydrocarbons, Perry is as good a choice as any.

Secretary of State–Rex Tillerson–ExxonMobil CEO–borderline genius move. Tillerson has met and negotiated with most leaders of rogue nations across the globe. Remember, God did not put oil and gas in very many nice places (Texas aside), and Tillerson earned his way to the top spot at ExxonMobil by demonstrating negotiating brilliance and a calm demeanor. I love this choice.

Secretary of Labor–Andrew Puzder–CEO of CKE Restaurants–a smart guy, and one who has experienced first-hand the negative impact of excessive regulation and the long arm of federal government over-reach. He is a great choice.

EPA Administrator–Scott Pruitt–Oklahome Attorney General–he can’t stand Federal Government intervention in matters that should be up to the states to decide, and he is openly pro hydrocarbon. After 8 years of an administration living on some cloud wherein they thought we could flip a switch and continue to drive planes, trains, automobiles, and industry on power generated by wind and solar, Pruitt will be a refreshing anti-regulatory new face at the EPA.

Administrator of the Small Business Administration–Linda McMahon–former CEO of the WWE–what an inspired choice. She understands what it takes to build a business, and she knows how destructive over-regulation can be.

Secretary of Homeland Security–General John Kelly–former Marine General–nuff said.

Ambassador to China–Iowas Governor Terry Branstad–he has been a China expert for decades and immediately received the plaudits of former President George H W Bush. Branstad is the real deal.

Secretary of Housing and Urban Development–Dr.Ben Carson–can anyone actually say they dislike this guy? I mean, he is the personification of the American success story. Good for Trump for giving him a meaningful position where his philosophy around self-sufficiency can make a difference.

Secretary of Defense–General James “Mad Dog” Mattis–This guy is amazing. Smart, literate, a thinker, and most importantly, someone his troops always wanted to follow. This is another inspired choice.

Commerce Secretary–Wilbur Ross–Find a person who has worked with this man who does not respect him. I dare you. He is widely respected and will champion American business interests.

Treasury Secretary–Steve Mnuchin–former Goldman Sachs banker. Apparently that drives the liberals nuts, notwithstanding how many former bankers have run the Treasury Department for democrat presidents. But more importantly, since when does being an outstanding banker preclude one from being considered for running our top Treasury post? I suppose the left would prefer someone with no financial background?

Transportation Secretary–Elaine Chao–a seasoned expert who served George W Bush for 8 years. She will run the Transportation Department ably.

Health and Human Services Secretary–Tom Price–Congressman from Georgia–a great pick as we know it means the President will focus on repealing Obamacare and replacing it with a market based program that actually works for the American people and does not lead inevitably toward a single payer system, run by the government, for the government and of the government.

White House Counsel–Don McGahn– a lawyer who has long championed conservative causes, this is another pick that silences those who feared Trump may be a democrat in Republican clothing.

Education Secretary–Betsy DeVos–a dedicated advocate for school choice, charter schools, and the voucher system. Ms. DeVos is a great pick and the polar opposite of what Hillary would have done on the education front. Those of you who follow this stuff will know that Hillary campaigned against all school choice, and like her buddy Bill de Blasio (NYC’s nutty mayor) she advocated the elimination of charter schools.

US Ambassador to the United Nations–Nikki Haley–South Caroline Governor–amazing that when an accomplished woman such as Nikki Haley is nominated for an important position the democrats find ways to criticize her. If the Republicans were to be so small, they would be accused of being woman hating bigots. Nikki Haley will serve us well in the UN.

CIA Director–Mike Pompeo–Congressman from Kansas–he has been outspoken in the matters ranging from Benghazi to the Iran nuclear deal. He is a no nonsense guy and that is what we need at the CIA.

Attorney General–Jeff Sessions–US Senator from Alabama–has outstanding credentials. The left is concocting rubbish about his allegedly racist past. Hogwash. The progressives will never quit.

National Security Advisor–General Michael Flynn–no nonsense straight talker who isn’t afraid to associate Islam with terror attacks around the world.

Senior Counselor to the President–Steve Bannon–former Breitbart Executive Chairman–a hardass, yes. but to listen to the left, you would think this guy is the devil incarnate. Simply not true. And no, contrary to current progressive speak, he is not anti-zionist.

Chief of Staff–Reince Priebus–former head of the RNC—we’ll see how Reince does. I think he earned the job.

Bottom line? These are good picks. I am far more confident today than I was the day after the election. I actually think we can get some amazing things done in year one. Time will tell, but put me down as pleasantly surprised!

Chicken Littles!

leaders-leadIf one were to believe the leftist media (yes, I know, that is redundant in respect of almost every media outlet in the United States) one would be seriously concerned about the fate of our country.

Contrary to the 8 year grace period granted President Obama, (I mean, really, he has been given a hall pass from the day he was elected until now, and there is no reason to believe it will ever change) President-elect Trump has been under fire from the minute the unbearable, gut-wrenching reality hit home election night; that moment in time when the mainstream media had no choice but to admit their candidate was not going to win. They are relentless. Their skies really have fallen and they are putting chicken little to shame!

On that election night, one would have thought CNN’s Wolf Blitzer was going to break down and cry. MSNBC almost had to shut down; no one on the air could control their emotions! Bill Clinton’s old press secretary, George Stephanopoulos, led the ABC coverage. Viewers watched his face contort in agony as reality set in.

By 7 AM, the main-streamers had regained their composure and the attacks began.

Let’s just review a few post-election events, and let’s never forget Saul Alinsky’s golden rule. I paraphrase, but in effect, if you want to destroy someone, attack him or her ruthlessly, frequently, and never, ever, let truth stand in the way! No entity in the history of the body politic has more effectively embraced Alinsky’s strategy than today’s progressive left, and since the main stream media is a de facto mouthpiece for the left, they are leading the charge.

From day one of the transition, Trump has been accused of furthering the causes of racism and sexism. All he apparently had to do was wake up and put on his suit to engender those charges.

The left has “gone borneo” on the appointment of Breitbart’s Steve Bannon. I’ve followed Bannon. He says some provocative things. But he clearly is not a racist, nor is he anti-Jewish.  The left are unloading both Alinsky barrels on him. The point is, there is no way they are going to support any conservative choices for anything! If you want to know more about Steve, read this article in the WSJ. It is objective, and lifts the fog of democrat propaganda. Click here for the article.

They say the transition is in utter disarray.

They cannot stand the fact that Trump tweets in the middle of the night. It is undignified; unbecoming of a world leader.

They say all his advisors are grumpy white guys; by definition that must make them losers, misogynists, and racists, right?

Elizabeth Warren is attacking Jeff Sessions, the nominee for Attorney General. Click here to see what she is saying. There is just one problem. The left is once again not letting truth stand in the way!

They can’t find enough Prilosec OTC when pondering the possibility of Giuliani being given a cabinet post.

They abhor what they see as his xenophobic approach toward Muslims and immigrants in general. (Have they actually bothered to read this team’s white papers?)

And the list goes on. Here is what you, good reader, need to know. It will never end. The left will never, ever give Trump a break. Do not hold your breath for it will not happen.

So what is happening? Well, it actually isn’t that complicated. They lost, and they cannot believe it when people they detest are given jobs. I guess they thought Trump might ask Hillary and Bernie if they wanted seats at the table. Wait, what, he isn’t going to offer top posts to liberals? Who does he think he is?

Heh, lefties, get over it! You lost. You hate everything that is happening now. You are lashing out. You are in shock. You can’t believe it. Well, get used to it. Tell your useless, grungy protestors, (40% of whom did not even bother to vote) to go back to their caves and save their energy for something other than looting, violence, and wasting law enforcement budget money. Tell your people that to protest is a right, but learn to protest with dignity. (And you might wish to tell them that if they actually bothered to vote, it might help your cause.)

I cannot bring this tome to a close without mentioning (once again) that while I voted for Donald Trump, I hardly find him to be an appealing human being. But guess what? That doesn’t trouble me in the slightest. He is going to be our President. We are going to have a better tax structure (more jobs!), stronger national energy plan, a Supreme Court nominee who believes in upholding the Constitution (in other words, he or she will not support the contention that what the Founding Fathers thought was important is no longer relevant in today’s world) and, (ready for this?) I actually think we stand a chance of a cogent immigration reform bill being passed by Congress and signed by the President. There, I said it. You don’t have to like the guy, but why on earth not root for his success?

He’s a Horse’s Ass but She is Simply Unacceptable

Donald Trump October 2016We all have certain memories of our parents. My father never  minced words. That trait didn’t always help him, but no one who called him a friend ever thought he was anything but the real McCoy. Whenever someone got under his skin, that person was a “horse’s ass”. I would ask, “Dad, why don’t you like so and so?” Almost inevitably (!), he would answer,”because he’s a horse’s ass.” It was really pretty simple. He didn’t separate the men from the boys. He separated the men from the horse’s asses. (So to speak)

The more this campaign progresses, the more I cannot escape the inescapable; if my dad were alive today, and he were to opine on the subject of Donald Trump, the answer would inevitably be “He’s a horse’s ass!”

You see, Donald Trump is simply unbearable. His behavior is repugnant. He is a mean, school yard bully. He listens to no one, and picks fights with anyone, anywhere, anytime. If attacked or questioned, he lashes out without thinking. He digs himself into holes and then, rather than climb out, he starts filling in the dirt while still in the hole!

What has our nation become? How does a guy like Trump rise to become the Republican nominee? Have we been dumbed down to a society of Kardashians and Real Housewives of New Jersey? Do we really admire characteristics exhibited by the likes of Donald Trump?

I get it. People are mad, and anyone and anything who/that can even remotely be associated with the “establishment” is a virtual pariah. There is no trust in anyone deemed to be from “Washington”. But Donald Trump? Really?

I was watching the Ryder Cup yesterday and marveling at how the gallery booed Rory Mcllroy and was quite relentless in its booing. I had to wonder, “am I watching a golf match?” And then I asked myself, “has Trump opened a huge can of horses’s asses?” I mean, is there no dignity left in our country? Can you imagine how Ronald Reagan or George H W Bush would react to such a total loss of decorum and manners?

We’re talking about the office of President of the United States. On one hand we have a relentlessly ambitious, pathologically liberal, unrepentant liar. Hillary is simply unacceptable. What amazes me is how many people have either forgotten or chosen to forget nearly thirty years of horrendous behavior on her part. To remember, click here. You cannot watch this and seriously tell yourself you are going to vote for her. I dare you.

If we elect Hillary Clinton, we might as well put the last nail in the coffin of Constitutional integrity. Liberal progressives view the Constitution as an obstacle to achieve their goal of social transformation and redistribution. For the left, our American history is a stain on humanity. They want to eradicate the last 300 years. Left to their devices, American history classes in grade school, high school, and college would be sociological studies in the abuses by empire over race and creed. The Protestant work ethic would be an example of elitist racism in a nation built on the suffering of the underclass. Upward mobility would be a fabrication of the gentry to convince those less fortunate to keep working harder. Gone would be the founding fathers. Gone would be the most magnificent governmental experiment in the history of man. Liberals don’t care. They are hell bent on redistribution and eradication of all things that have distinguished our great country. Make no mistake, Hillary is front and center, leading the charge.

And then on the other hand we have Donald. Oh my God!

So here I sit, knowing that I will vote for this guy. Cutting to the chase, it boils down to two words and one acronym: Supreme Court or SCOTUS, take your pick; that’s all. It’s that simple. Up to three justices may be replaced in the next four years. (We already know Anton Scalia’s seat is open and waiting on a nominee who will be approved by the Senate.) American people have been handed a game of Russian roulette for the Presidential election. In Hillary’s case, all six chambers of the revolver are already loaded. Pull the trigger and your dead. In Donald’s case, about two of them are loaded. There is at least a chance that you survive. And that is how bad it is.

For those who may vote for the Libertarian or Green parties, I only say this. Unless you are a diehard Libertarian or environmentalist, you surely know you are throwing your vote into oblivion. In the case of Johnson/Weld, oblivion is near Aleppo. (Click here if you have been living in a cave!)

I’ve said it before, and I’m saying it again. Take a shot of Pepto-Bismol, hold your nose, and vote for Trump.

When I Woke Up and Didn’t Recognize My Country..

Former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton

I woke up the other day and realized that my country left me. Worse, I live in a country where tens of millions of Americans, starting with the President and Mrs. Clinton, seem perfectly ok with the politics of race and envy that dominate their lexicon.

I don’t know many people who are  very happy with our choices for the 45th President of the United States. But let’s not cover old ground. It is what it is.

In the past couple weeks, we witnessed a candidate for President of the United States collapse and literally get shoveled into her ride home. If you think I am kidding, watch it by clicking here. The official excuse was pneumonia. Sure. How stupid do they think we are?

Then we had two police shootings which led to more people and property being destroyed. Since when did it become ok to riot in the streets, hurt people, destroy property, cause mayhem, all in the name of justice? Let’s be really clear about our police. They are here to protect and to serve, and that is exactly what the vast majority of them do. Are there bad cops? Of course there are; just as there are bad people infiltrating every walk of life. There is no statistical narrative, however, that validates the notion that cops are out to “get” black males. There is data out the wazoo confirming the disproportionate amount of crime committed by black males against whites, hispanics and blacks (click here to read more on this.) So how have we come to a place where focusing on likely sources of crime is “racial profiling” and proven effective techniques such as “stop and frisk” may no longer be conducted? This is what happens before you roll out of bed and realize you don’t know where you are anymore.

The Charlotte riots of the past week have largely been covered as peaceful protests. Click here and tell me what you think. So allow me to go back to the tragedy that occurred in Tulsa. A police officer has turned herself in and has been charged. A police officer killing an unarmed man cannot be countenanced. But with all the rhetoric and grandstanding from pundits left and right, where is the common sense? I don’t know about you, but my kids know to obey the police when they tell you to do something. While this is comedy, Chris Rock sent a strong message to the black community a few years ago when he produced this piece. (click here) While that video seems harsh in light of recent police shootings, the message is one that has been completely lost. Application of common sense would prevent most of these tragedies. When a police person tells you to raise your hands and get on the ground, you raise your hands and get on the ground. You do not back off and disobey repeated orders. Again, I am not, in any way, shape, or form, rationalizing the shooting death of an unarmed man. I am, however, saying what no one else wants to say. If people do what they are told to do by the police, these situations would not develop into the nightmares they often become.

Back to politics. Where has the President been for the past couple weeks? Why on earth is he not speaking out about the rioting in Charlotte? Well, folks, some of you aren’t going to like it, but I believe the President believes we are a racist country, and that for change to occur, things need to be messy. In short, I think the President is ok with the civil unrest we are witnessing. Again, when I stumbled out of bed this morning, I didn’t know where I was.

Mr. Trump has irritated the black elite by suggesting that blacks have virtually nothing to lose by voting for him. Some people are offended by such an aggressive posture. Why? Progressive leftist policies aimed at improving the plight of our impoverished communities have failed for fifty years and cost 22 trillion dollars. (See article on this massive failure of government policy here.) I offer this; it’s not only what do they have to lose, but what does Mr. Trump have to lose! He is favored by 8% of our African American community. He supports charter schools, arguably the only hope for children in poor, drug and crime ridden neighborhoods. Mrs. Clinton wants to abolish them. He favors jobs programs and vocational training. Mrs. Clinton just wants to keep throwing good money after bad, and is wholly beholden to the teachers’ unions. I think he is dead right to be brutally frank and honest with a group of people who have been let down for decades by the democrats.

So what is going to happen in this country I no longer recognize? I have no idea. Do you?

A prediction–more people will watch Monday night’s debate than ever before.

Holy Hiatus!

The President does not lead because he does not believe America should lead.

The President does not lead because he does not believe America should lead.

OK, so those of you who profess to reading Pierce Wire from time to time might be wondering whether the author got in the way of one of the administration’s free speech purges. Remember Lois Lerner?

Do you know what is amazing? You probably had to scratch your head to actually remember Lois Lerner. You see, there have been so many improprieties in the past six years that they all tend to blend together. A scandal that may have shaken a Republican administration’s foundational tree at its roots is just another day at the office for the Obama regime.

This begets the question, “what hath we wrought?” Seriously, are Americans so immune to corruption and manipulation of fact that they simply don’t care anymore? Have years of distortion and progressive propaganda dumbed and numbed us to the point where we have made George Orwell’s 1984 a self-fulfilling prophecy?

There is a “glass half full” side of me that truly wants to embrace Jeb Bush’s contention that our best days actually can still be ahead of us. Jeb maintains there is no reason why our kids can’t have a better life than their parents. I want to believe that. But there are some things we need to do in order to create an environment for that aspiration to be given a chance to become reality. Namely:

–America’s teens and twenty-somethings need to wake up and realize no one owes them anything. This country’s meteoric ascent on this planet may have been a function of the right time, place, natural resources, and myriad other factors, but anyone who denies that the Protestant work ethic wasn’t the glue that held it all together does not understand American history. We have been a nation of achievers. In order to continue to be so we need yet another generation of Americans to achieve!

–We must halt the seemingly inexorable growth of wasteful social entitlements. This is not rocket science. Republicans must find a way (after fifty years of not being able to do so) to demonstrate that theirs is not a heartless creed. A true conservative is indeed compassionate, and part of that core value system is a belief in a social safety net. Alas, what we face today is something far different than a governmental safe port when elements of society are trapped  in personal storms. Democrats have hijacked the noble ideas that ignited the Great Society legislation and in so doing have created a permanent underclass in American society; one that is rewarded for not seeking employment! How ironic is it for President Obama to incessantly call out Republicans for their heartlessness when all data demonstrates unequivocally that the trillions of dollars directed toward entitlement programs have only caused more poverty and created an endless cycle of generational dependency? It’s about work, people, not handouts!

–American leaders need to lead. We may not have asked for our place in the world, but we own it. President Obama has spent 6 years trying to disown it. The President is ashamed of what he sees as our imperial past. He apologizes for the America we love. What he fails to understand is that without our hands on the helm the world will slip into anarchy. We are watching it happen right now. Putin is slowly clawing back what used to be the western perimeter safety shield for Russia. Putin is dumb like a fox. He sees the west as nothing more than a conglomeration of talking heads: all talk and too weak to take action. ISIS (the JV, as you will recall) continues to wreak havoc throughout the middle east, and their Boko Harem brethren threaten Nigeria and adjoining states. Mr. Obama continues to blame George W Bush for the evils that permeate the world. It is inconceivable in the world of realpolitik  to point the finger of blame in any direction other than directly at the President. His disengagement on virtually every front has left the world a far more dangerous place. And his obsession with doing a deal with Iran is simply mind boggling. In 2016 we must hope for a leader and a supportive Congress who will not hesitate to do the right thing when a situation arises in the world and America is the only country positioned to take action. The Bush doctrine, like it or not, is as applicable today as it was on September 12, 2001. If we don’t take the fight to our enemies, they will bring it to us.

–We need to stop being afraid to identify our enemies for what they are. ISIS is a loosely knit confederation of radical muslim terrorists. They want to plunge the world back into a darker than dark age. Should that be so hard to say? If there was a group of radical Christians intent on turning the world upside down and leaving a path of murderous destruction in their wake would anyone hesitate to call them radical Christian terrorists?

–We need to move beyond this horrible racial divide the current administration has legitimized. Do we still have racial tension in the US? Yes, of course we do. But the indisputable fact is that it is much worse today than it was in 2008, and that is because of a relentless focus by this President and his appointees to sow seeds of turmoil every time an opportunity arises. Who amongst us should not sympathize with police officers across the country? They have been vilified with the net result being that the same underclass that our Great Society created and perpetuated now considers police as the enemy. Whose job is it to get the underclass to take a step back and ask itself “what are we doing to lift ourselves out of this spiral? Is it possible we see police as the enemy because of something we are doing?”

–Stop treating business as the enemy! Success is not evil! Elizabeth Warren and President Obama represent a cynical populist brand of politics we may not have witnessed since William Jennings Bryan’s prominence at the end of the 19th century. It is so easy to attack success, and stir the passions of those less fortunate. It is also so wrong to do so. We need leadership to step up and make it clear that we applaud and reward success. We also must find a way to get people to understand that government does not make people successful. It’s government’s job to help create the environment for success. This current government demonizes success, and is predicated on the notion that people can only lift themselves up on the shoulders of government. One does not have to delve too deeply into world history to see that this thought process was also a common theme of many failed communist states.

–Embrace immigrants who come here for a chance at the American dream! We are a nation of immigrants and there is no reason Americans decades from now should not be saying the same thing. We are not a nation of xenophobes. Make the new generation of immigrants Republican by demonstrating to them that ours is the party of ideas and opportunity.

They say that blogs over 1000 words run the risk of losing the reader. And so I draw to a close. The list above is just a teaser. I could go on forever, as too, I am sure, could you. (If you have read this far, then you clearly care!)
