High Crimes and Poppycock!

Lest I bore you into a catatonic nap, allow me to say one more time, I do not like Donald Trump. He is a narcissist. He sets a horrible example for our kids. He is not invited to my house for dinner.

OK, are we clear?

Now, let’s talk about what is happening in the United States House of Representatives. Nancy Pelosi allowed herself to get backed int a corner by her progressives, and Adam Schiff was only too happy to carry the impeachment torch. Folks, it is poppycock. And in case that word is too arcane, here are a few synonyms: balderdash, beans, bilge, blarney, blather, blither, bosh, bull, bunk, claptrap, codswallop, crock, drivel, fiddle-paddle, flapdoodle, folderol, fudge, garbage, hogwash, guff, hockey-pokey, hokum, hooey, humbug, malarkey, nonsense, piffle, rubbish, slush, stupidity, tommyrot, tosh, and twaddle.

Get the point? Have you read the Ukraine call transcript? I have read every word of it; several times. There is NOTHING there. This is a farce! Hah, another synonym! The democrats are literally concocting a fabricated set of circumstances when the exhonorating evidence is already public, and the other person on the phone (that would be Ukraine’s President, Volodymyr Zelensky) has stated publicly that at no time has President Trump or any of his proxies suggested aid has been or will be withheld pending investigation of Joe Biden or his son.

I don’t care about Hunter Biden. The talking heads on the right should drop the subject. I do care about the possibility of Ukranian involvement in the 2016 election. Why isn’t that the subject matter at hand?

I know some of my readers hate Donald Trump so much that they will grasp at any straw to validate their feelings. Trump haters, you are being conned. This is politics 101. Don’t be a victim.

We have another 12 1/2 months before the election. If history is a guide, don’t worryTrump bashers, the President will give you plenty more up about which to get riled. In the meantime, do yourselves a favor and focus on playoff baseball. It’s much more interesting, and nobody is conning you.

Wackos!

How wonderful would it be if we could put AOC and her “Squad” in a room with Jack Webb? A review of this 1965 Dragnet clip (click here) will remind you that the US has dealt with wackos forever. Of course, now that you have watched Jack Webb in action, you are probably marveling that Hollywood could ever have aired a show where the lead actor spoke with such common sense!

I have been writing this blog for over ten years. I started out of a sense of frustration over how far left our country was leaning. The leftward lean over the past decade is not without precedent. In the late 19th century, we had Samuel Gompers and William Jennings Bryan radically trying to  push us left. Even though FDR was an aristocrat, he began the now nearly century long tradition of limousine liberals in power. Another way of saying that is that we have been hammered for nearly a hundred years by wealthy liberals who have enough money to not worry about the devastating impact their own policies would have on themselves!

What we have witnessed over the past decade is new to the extent that academics,  people of color, and others with varying  cultural and religious backgrounds have been elected to office and are using the bully pulpit to sow seeds of discontent. I don’t doubt that Barack and Michelle Obama believe there continues to be racial injustice in the United States. And I don’t doubt that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez or Congresswoman Ilhan Omar believe everything they say. The problem is not Donald Trump. (Well, he may have problems but we are not here to discuss them in the context of this blog.) The problem lies with what is manifesting itself as a detestation of all things American.

The red meat rhetoric of the Trump rallies doesn’t help anyone. “Send her back” makes no sense. Back to where? Michigan? The Bronx? These elected officials are Americans. What we should be discussing is how have we arrived at a place where these same elected officials do not like our country, and are dead-set on changing it forever. To this end, President Trump has every right to challenge them. Leave the personal attacks out of it. The 2020 election should be about the contrasting (and competing) visions for the future of the United States. Let there be no mistake. The stakes could not be any bigger.

As Jack Webb says in what is now a fifty year old video, “Don’t try to build a new country. Make the old one work. It has for over 400 years.” Folks, therein lies the difference. The progressive left sees nothing redeeming in our history. The United States is the greatest, most successful social and government experiment in human history. Warts and all, we have demonstrated for centuries that rising tides really do lift all boats. Free markets, entrepreneurs, and minimal government interference breed and compound success. Yet the left will not grant an iota of recognition to the facts staring it in the face. The new left sees absolutely nothing redeeming about our amazing history. Thus the insidious efforts to revise our history books and teach our children a US history built on guilt. Thus the destruction and removal of countless statues remembering and documenting our past. Thus poor ole Uncle Joe Biden groveling uncomfortably in this fiasco that is the nascent democrat primary campaign. The list goes on.

I do hold the main stream media partially responsible for the drivel with which we are confronted on a daily basis. All we see, courtesy of the main stream media, is drivel! Shame on them. But more to the point, how did so many media become so liberal? Well, let’s not forget that our schools and universities have been dominated by the left for over 50 years. Absent strong influences outside of school, it does not require a major in rocket science to understand why so many academics graduate with strong progressive political views.

It seems every four years we find ourselves at a crossroads; where the outcome of an election is paramount. 2020 will be no different. We are faced with the likely prospect that a democrat favoring socialism will be running against President Trump. Good Lord! How did we get here? Did you ever think in your lifetime you would be confronted with a choice for President between a socialist or an ass? Sorry, folks, but the ass gets my vote. I simply refuse to see 400 years of history washed down the drain as the progressive left destroys everything that has made this country great. You see, our history is not a zero sum game. You can’t wipe it out because parts of our evolution do not conform to today’s politically correct narrative. That is not the real world.

There are so many things to not like about President Trump. But life is about compromise. I put my country and its future ahead of a temporal moment. President Trump is a blip on the American radar. The noble experiment must survive, and the risk of its destruction is far greater if people who eschew everything about our country are allowed to impose their will.

As this election season unfolds, don’t allow yourself to be pulled into the quagmire and vitriol of personal attack. Keep your eyes on the prize; a United States with an amazing history, and one that can be sustained, if we continue to elect people who embrace freedom and capitalism. As Jack Webb would have said, “Just the facts!”

Remember Me?

I used to write a blog with some regularity. Well, things got busy and, oh yeah, my company was purchased. But as with any good poltergeist, I’m back!

Where to start? The whole Mueller thing is, frankly, boring. The President’s behavior is beneath the office, and the democrats’ steadfast denial of reality is beyond the pale. The dems will try to keep the obstruction farce front and center until the 2020 elections. I think they are deluded and will only hurt themselves. The President hardly looks great in the Mueller report. He is small and petty. But does that surprise anyone? His staff probably saved him from doing something stupid, but the bottom line is he didn’t do anything wrong! The dems just can’t let it go.

I want to focus on our new best friend Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC). I truly would like to give this young lady some credit She hustled and ousted a seasoned, high ranking democrat from his chair. Ok, street cred to her. She majored in International Relations and Economics at Boston University. Sounds pretty plugged in, right? So what happened?

Did you ever imagine you would wake up to an America where every day someone in a position of power is seriously attacking capitalism as a scourge, and promoting progressive socialist ideas as the solution for our perceived ills? Say what?! I mean, first of all, Americans need to take a step back and recognize that deregulation and tax cuts for the middle class and corporations have supercharged our economy. Yet the only thing you hear from the left is how they want to reverse those tax cuts. It’s crazy! Who are these people?

Let’s just ponder a few statements from AOC.

–She almost single-handedly killed the Amazon move next to her district in NYC. She thought subsidies to Amazon in exchange for the creation of 25,000-40,000 new jobs in Long Island City were a bad deal.”We were subsidizing those jobs,” she said. “Frankly, if we were willing to give away $3 billion for this deal, we could invest those $3 billion in our district, ourselves, if we wanted to. We could hire out more teachers. We can fix our subways. We can put a lot of people to work for that amount of money if we wanted to.” Ummmmm…AOC, you see, that is not how that works. Those new jobs generate tax revenues and improve livelihoods. They raise the standard of living in the entire district. The subsidy/enticement is a drop in the bucket. Wait, you majored in economics? Really? Shame on Boston University.

–“And so I do think that right now we have this no-holds-barred, Wild West hyper-capitalism. What that means is profit at any cost. Capitalism has not always existed in the world, and it will not always exist in the world. When this country started, we were not a capitalist [nation], we did not operate on a capitalist economy.” This is just balderdash. Good Lord! We are the singularly most successful experiment in freedom and wealth creation in the history of mankind. Socialists are barking up the wrong tree. Didn’t anyone ever tell AOC not to bite the hand that feeds?

-“I think that politically, this upper-middle class is probably more moderate, but that upper-middle class doesn’t exist anymore in America, and thanks to the continued deregulation of Wall Street, thanks to the continued gutting of working- and middle-class people, we need stronger champions.”

Check out the Urban Institute, and the American Enterprise Institute articles which debunk this absurd assertion that the upper middle class doesn’t exist anymore. It is growing!

–When asked how we would fund a single payer government run health care system, AOC said “People often say, how are you gonna pay for it? And I find the question so puzzling because, how do you pay for something that’s more affordable? How do you pay for cheaper rent? How do you pay for—you just pay for it.” Huh? Come again! This is the stuff of progressive legend? Is she serious? Alas, methinks she is.

–When announcing her “Green New Deal”, she said the world as we know it will not exist in 12 years. AOC says the threat to our existence is as grave as it was when we fought Nazi Germany. “What we had was an existential threat in the context of a war. We had a direct existential threat with another nation, this time it was Nazi Germany, and the Axis, who explicitly made the United States as an enemy, as an enemy. And what we did was that we chose to mobilize our entire economy and industrialized our entire economy and we put hundreds if not millions of people to work in defending our shores and defending this country. We have to do the same thing in order to get us to 100 percent renewable energy, and that’s just the truth of it.” No, AOC, that simply is not the truth of it. That is actually just plain nuts.

Can you imagine Nancy Pelosi waking up every morning to more insanity from AOC and the other freshmen progressives? It almost makes one feel sorry for Nancy. Almost.

There are at least twenty democrats who have declared their candidacy for President. Most of them are attacking capitalism, entrepreneurism, and low taxes. They are going to chase each other to the left in order to curry favor with the party faithful. All of a sudden, democrats such as Joe Biden seem boringly mainstream. Folks, the democrats are all bark, no bite. They are alarmingly out of touch with the mainstream. Fasten your seatbelts. It is going to be an interesting 18 months.

Are These People Serious?

My last post was upbeat. It honored the life of a great public servant, George H. W. Bush. Alas, we have ushered in a new year, and a new Congress. And no new Congressperson more personifies the bizarre machinations of the left than does Alexandria Octavio-Cortez, a NYC born Latino. One of two things are happening here. She either really does not like anything about what has made the United States the singularly most successful experiment in freedom and upward mobility over the course of recorded history, or is she just another progressive leftist spouting populist drivel to incite the dreamers and free-lunchers to revolt? I don’t know.

Her Green New Deal is the most confounding document bandied about in Washington for a long time. Do these people understand that money is generated by the private sector? Sometimes I think they actually believe the Government makes the money we spend. Well, I guess, given our $22,000,000,000,000 deficit, one could argue the Government has done a pretty good job spending money it does not have, but that is another topic for another day. Let’s just dwell a moment on how downright crazy her Green New Deal actually is. I was pleased to see that potential independent candidate for President Howard Schultz was in Houston today, and called the Green New Deal “not realistic” and “immoral”. Run, Howard, run! Click here to read more about his comments in Houston. By the way, while all the focus is on climate change in this drivel, there are other lofty pro-growth goals stipulated. One that grabbed my attention is the that the Deal would provide “economic security to all who are unable or unwilling to work”. UNWILLING TO WORK! I rest my case on this one. Well, not quite….

I mean, these people don’t actually believe this stuff, do they?! When you read this palaver, do you find yourself wondering if the progressives actually have no idea what fuels the entire world economy? Do they think plastic grows on trees? Do they see planes, rockets, missiles, trains, and automobiles powered by solar energy? Is the next trip to the moon going to be wind powered? Americans are ready to tear down all inefficient buildings and houses, right? Maybe its time to invest again in buggy whips, because when the progressive luddites (that should be an oxymoron) finally take over, horse and wagon transportation will be in vogue!

But seriously folks, I cannot figure out whether this is all a power ploy; something sweeping and grand to capture the imagination of the dreamers and mentally challenged. Surely the end game is about seizing control. Surely they do not actually believe what they purport to espouse!

I took some heart today in a Fox News poll which shows overwhelming support for capitalism over socialism. Click here to read this poll. It is comprehensive and no matter on what side of the aisle you may sit, it is worth your time.

We live in strange times. The left detests President Trump so much they will say and do anything to obstruct him. As I have said myriad times, I am no fan of Donald Trump. But I am 100% supportive of what the administration has done to support our middle class, and, in turn, the US economy. When I count the good things that have happened in the past two years compared to some decisions with which I disagree, the good things win! This country is so much better off than it would have been under four more years of democrat regulations and taxation. The numbers speak for themselves. And while we are on the numbers, can you tell me that you weren’t just a little agitated  during the State of the Nation address, when the “women in white” were so visibly angry at Donald Trump that their detestation of him blinded them from realizing how ridiculous it looked to not applaud the lowest white, black, and hispanic unemployment in US history? C’mon! Facts may be inconvenient truths for the left, but when one is on national tv, one should be somewhat sensitive to looking like an idiot.

How about those who have declared for the race to be the Democrat nominee? So far, the run should be called the “let’s see who can turn left and run as fast as possible into the abyss” race! Surely sane-minded democrats must be apoplectic at what they are witnessing. Don’t they see that the Democrats’ best shot is to nominate a moderate who can swing the independent vote? Alas, I am a Republican, so all I can implore them all to do is “keep running to the left”!

Lastly, and mostly as an aside, can you imagine the conversations Nancy Pelosi is having behind closed doors?  She is the Speaker. She wants to be the face of the party. But every day, one freshman congresswoman or another is stealing the limelight, and those lights do not reflect well on the Democrats. Poor Nancy.

The gloves are off. I can’t wait to see the likes of Booker, Harris, and Warren pummel each other in their efforts to prove how much more socialist each one is compared to the other.

Speechless

Several people have asked me why I am writing so infrequently. Well, there are a few reasons. My job is keeping me pretty busy, so that’s legit, right? Mostly though, it is because day-to-day politics have left me speechless. Both parties are so hopelessly mired in the quagmire of partisan despair. Politicians and the political regime (the press, politicos, talking heads) have become incredibly petty. In short, I have OD’d on simple-minded hacks on both sides of the political fence.

How bad is it? It’s so bad that a Mitt Romney or George H. W. Bush would be considered to liberal or “out of touch” to secure their party’s nomination for President. And is equally so bad that a John Kerry or Al Gore would be too conservative to secure their party’s nomination for President.

In a way, the democrat’s have an easier problem to address. There is a democrat center and a democrat left. Any democrat is too liberal for me, but that is not the issue. The dems face a horrible challenge; namely, the relentless run to the left. Folks, it’s not just any old left, but a left that crosses the line into the land of socialists and hatred of capitalism. That is a scary place, yet the democrats seem incapable of stopping that slide into the abyss.

The GOP faces a bigger problem, largely because no one even knows what or where the GOP actually is. In short, I would argue there isn’t a Republican Party. There is a loose-knit, semi-confederation of former GOP stalwarts, libertarians, tea-partiers, and Trumpster wannabes. What a mess. The President has them scared of their own shadows. Sure, in private they wring their hands and speak with despair of his unseemly behavior. But in public their hands are tied. They are between a rock and a hard place. It’s a regular old dog’s breakfast.

The SCOTUS process is perhaps the only current event where the “Republicans” can act as one. For all of Trump’s faults he is two for two with superior Supreme Court nominations. Judges Gorsuch and Kavanaugh are not right wing zealots. There is simply nothing wrong about them. They are as pure and unadulterated as they come. They are not there to write law; they are on the bench to interpret it. This is what great judges do. Elizabeth Warren and Chuck Schumer make themselves smaller and smaller every time they talk with disdain about Judge Kavanaugh.

Just before I lose my more moderate or (dare I say) liberal readers, allow me to also say I didn’t think it is possible for me to dislike President Trump more than I did, but I do! He is a horrible man. Alas, we remain in a better place as a country than we would be had Hillary Clinton continued the miserable, economy-crushing policies of Mr. Obama. My greatest fear remains the possibility that Mr. Trump has not told the truth about something presently under investigation by Mr. Mueller. If his morals end up being as bad as his personality, the entire nation will suffer. History tells us that the voter backlash will be extreme, and in today’s environment the definition of “extreme” is “socialism”. The swing to the left will decapitate you if you get in the way of that blade.

For the sake of the United States, let’s hope this self-centered man is telling the truth. We can ill afford a wholesale shift to the far left. But I digress. The main point is that both parties are listless amoeba; pandering to extreme voices, taking whatever shape is necessary to mollify their extreme base, and afraid to do the right thing for fear of reprisal. We’ve been in messes before, and no doubt will be again. But this one is a doozy. I remain virtually speechless!

Chuck, Shut up. You Sound Like an Idiot!

He has dug his hole so deep he has no way out.

Yes, I am breaking my rule and writing about tax reform for the third consecutive time. Alas, I can’t help it. Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer are not stupid. They know their personal tax payments are probably going to increase. I know mine will. The difference between Chuck, Nancy and me is that I know those on the upper end of the economic ladder are not getting tax breaks, and the lower middle and middle class are. Well, actually, Chuck and Nancy know that too. They are just too entrenched in the politics of envy to tell the truth to their constituency. Shame on them.

Immediately following the passage of the tax reform bill yesterday, several Fortune 500 companies announced  they would be distributing bonuses to their employees. I thought it was a moment reminiscent of the Little Rascals. Click here for a 10 second trip down memory lane. Hundreds of thousands of Americans are already feeling the benefit of this tax reform bill, and it hasn’t even taken effect! Click here to read what USA Today had to say. Concurrent with the myriad positive announcements, Mr. Schumer was outlining how the tax bill would have no meaningful impact on America’s working men and women. Click here for that nonsense. Whoops!

Facts are facts, and they are prickly little things when they don’t fit the populist narrative.

Before my centrist friends accuse me of going all hard-ass on them, let me be clear; the GOP is still a fractured lot, and the President manages to boggle the mind with some regularity. But folks, this bill is good for our country, and as its benefits become more and more clear, all but the willfully blind will recognize and acknowledge the benefits. The willfully blind include the likes of Paul Krugman, a Nobel Prize winning economist. Check out this article he wrote. An excerpt (if you, as I, feel nauseous reading too much Krugman) now follows. ” The core of the bill is a huge redistribution of income from lower- and middle-income families to corporations and business owners. Corporate tax rates go down sharply, while ordinary families are nickel-and-dimed by a series of tax changes, no one of which is that big a deal in itself, but which add up to significant tax increases on almost two-thirds of middle-class taxpayers.” I left his link to to the progressive Tax Policy Center data intact. Have at it. Krugman has never encountered a Republican policy he doesn’t disdain, and he has been wrong since God was a small child. The discipline of economics has always been too closely linked to political dogma. Paul Krugman is the poster child for that statement.

One can do anything one wants with data. The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 will rest on its own result-based laurels.

If the GOP will now muster up the nerve to take on run-away entitlement spending before the mid-term 2018 elections, they may just be able to overcome the general sentiment that they don’t get much done!

Hypocrisy, But I Repeat Myself!

The Iron Lady of England. She was a strong leader who led England out of a massive economic hole created by socialist policies.

Rarely, (never, actually) do I write back to back blogs on the same subject. Well, rules are made to be broken.

The GOP appears to be making the tax reform bill better and better. Don’t get me wrong; what comes out of conference will still be a bill developed by Republicans looking over their shoulders, always fearing the 1% moniker. The Obama years left us with two legacies that will take time to eradicate. They are:

–deliberately heightened racial tensions, and

–economic warfare.

The first bullet speaks for itself, but in case you need a refresher course, I will give it to you in one word: Ferguson. Next subject please.

The second bullet should also be self explanatory, but I will use more than a word to explain. We are a nation that has always lauded entrepreneurs. Our colonists were capitalists. They were traders. They found ways to survive (and in many cases thrive) in spite of Big Brother (King George) making life more and more difficult for them. Over the centuries we have applauded success. Now, for some heinous and insidious reason, success is mocked. Success is greed. Success now foments social tension, and the cure is, (duh) higher taxes and redistribution!

Any nation of 330,000,000 people is going to have challenges. We have many. But the idea that the solution lies in eliminating income disparity is shamefully (and cynically) laughable. I think Margaret Thatcher explained it best when asked a question by William Buckley. She kept it simple! Click here to see for yourself. Even better (yes, it gets better!) watch Mrs. Thatcher take on the liberals in Parliament on the issue of redistribution. As she said, the left would “rather have the poor be poorer” than to admit conservative economic policies work. Watch her here. Now you have to admit, that is good stuff!

What it demonstrates, however, is that our problems are not new or unique. Progressive leftist redistributionists have been spouting this gibberish for decades. It is as it always has been. There will forever be those who wish to undermine the very foundation of our capitalist structure that has made us the economic superpower we are.

At the risk of repetition, I repeat that which was written last week:

“Time and again over the decades, tax reform has led to increased revenues to the US Treasury. When the environment is right for investment, American companies (big and small) have always spent money, hired people, and generated more tax revenue to Uncle Sam. Our deficit problems have nothing to do with tax reform. They are solely a function of the lack of willpower to come to grips with social spending that is completely out of control!”

It is not rocket science. But as long as we have the demogoguery of the Schumers, Warrens, and Pelosi’s of the left stirring up social unrest, we will always be fighting a rear guard action to help our economy (and our citizens) be uplifted.

Stay Strong, my friends!

Dazed and Confused

Hillary continues to blame everything under the sun for her election loss.

Can anyone actually put today’s politics into rational perspective? I don’t know about you, but sometimes it is all a bit too daunting. And perhaps sometimes others should do the talking. This is one of those times. On June 1, Peggy Noonan wrote “I don’t want to beat up on Hillary Clinton. She thought she’d win and she lost, embarrassingly, to a man she considered deeply unworthy. At the same time she won the popular vote by 2.9 million. It would take anyone time to absorb these things emotionally and psychologically.

But wow. Her public statements since defeat have been malignant little masterpieces of victimhood-claiming, blame-shifting and unhelpful accusation. They deserve censure.”

She then said “She lost because America is a hopelessly reactionary country in which dark forces fight a constant “rearguard action” to “turn back the clock.” She lost because Republicans are both technologically advanced and underhanded. Democrats, for instance, use data and analytics to target and rouse voters—“better messaging.” Republicans, on the other hand, use “content farms” and make “an enormous investment in falsehoods, fake news, call it what you will.” Democrats “did not engage in false content.” She lost because of the Russians: “Who were they coordinating with, or colluding with?”

She lost because of “voter suppression” and “unaccountable money flowing in against me.” She lost because the Democratic National Committee didn’t help her. “I inherit nothing from the Democratic Party. I mean it was bankrupt. . . . Its data was mediocre to poor, nonexistent, wrong. I had to inject money into it.

She lost because FBI Director James Comey told Congress the investigation regarding her email server had been reopened. “So for whatever reason . . . and I can’t look inside the guy’s mind, you know, he dumps that on me on Oct. 28, and I immediately start falling.”

She lost because she was “swimming against a historic tide. It’s very difficult historically to succeed a two-term president of your own party.” She lost because she was “the victim of a very broad assumption that I was going to win.” She lost because the news media ignored her policy positions.

And then there was sexism. “It sort of bleeds into misogyny. And let’s just be honest, you know, people who have . . . a set of expectations about who should be president and what a president looks like, you know, they’re going to be much more skeptical and critical of somebody who doesn’t look like and talk like and sound like everybody else who’s been president. Any you know, President Obama broke that racial barrier, but you know, he’s a very attractive, good-looking man.”

Oh my goodness, how she thinks.”

I could go on (or Peggy could-and did) but you get the point. As a Republican, I can’t tell you how much I hope Hillary deludes herself into considering another run at the White House. As a reasonable human being, I can’t imagine that ever happening. But good Lord, I could never imagine so much of what happens every day ever happening!

To summarize, here is my note to Hillary. ‘Hillary, enough already. Stop looking for scapegoats. You ran a horrible campaign. You had no resonating message. You cannot succeed on the politics of envy if you make people squirm when you talk. Get over it, and do so now, for your sake, your family’s sake, and out of compassion for your country.”

Moving on, I want address an issue that has been raised by two good friends. One is a registered democrat, and the other (I believe) considers herself to be independent. In both cases, they have taken umbrage at my reference to the progressive left and “dimocrats” as too broad and sweeping a characterization, and insulting to those who feel unjustly swept up in the wide swath of my broom. In hindsight, I do tend to throw all democrats to the wolves when I refer to the imponderably inane policies promulgated by their spokespeople. And for that, I apologize. There are obviously myriad forms of democrats just as there are many factions in the GOP. It is not fair to throw all who voted for President Obama or Hillary into the same fruit basket. Some deserve an opportunity to repent! Suffice to say, I will attempt to be more prescriptive in my future diatribes.

Moving on. The President’s overseas trip was good. I love the fact that he restored relations with the Sunni leaders in the Middle East, reiterated his support for Israel as our staunchest ally in the region, and visited the Pope. It was well conceived, and well executed. His ensuing NATO message was clear. He supports NATO, but deadbeats need to pay their fair share. (NATO also believes he supports the organization. Click here to read more.) Look, I don’t like the way President Trump says and does a lot of things. He is abrasive and can act like a bully. But at the end of the day, he is absolutely right to take on those NATO allies who have drafted on the back of our economic engine for far too long.

The budget is outstanding. (Click here if you want to read about it.) If any semblance of this White House budget is passed, we will see economic growth and, ultimately, increased revenues to the Treasury. (Once and for all, let’s put this piece of democrat propaganda to rest once and for all. In spite of all protestations to the contrary, the Laffer curve works. It worked wonderfully after the Reagan tax cuts. Yes, the deficit increased, but that is because we were in an arms build-up war with the Soviet Union. The irrefutable truth is that revenues to the treasury increased during those years. Click here to read more on this topic.) Just as important, we will see curtailment of runaway Federal spending. Folks, I said it in 2008, 2012, and 2016. We cannot keep spending money we don’t have! Sure, it would be wonderful to throw money at every problem that comes our way. Allow me to ask you a question. Is that the way you handle things in your family? Well, a nation is no different. It has to make tough decisions, and those tough decisions have been deferred for decades. If President Trump can actually make the buck stop “here”, (nod to President Truman) all power to him.

The Russia thing. Yawn. The only part of this whole story that intrigues me is if, at the end of the day, Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller ends up focusing on the Obama administration  surveillance activities before and after the election, and conscious decisions taken to “unmask” names of American citizens; names that may have surfaced during (possible illegal) covert intelligence operations. This, folks, is where it could get interesting. Of course, if Mr. Mueller’s investigations do head in that direction, you may rest assured the main stream media will quickly lose interest.

And so there you have it. Not too much happening, right? Are you dazed and confused? I am.

Chicken Littles!

leaders-leadIf one were to believe the leftist media (yes, I know, that is redundant in respect of almost every media outlet in the United States) one would be seriously concerned about the fate of our country.

Contrary to the 8 year grace period granted President Obama, (I mean, really, he has been given a hall pass from the day he was elected until now, and there is no reason to believe it will ever change) President-elect Trump has been under fire from the minute the unbearable, gut-wrenching reality hit home election night; that moment in time when the mainstream media had no choice but to admit their candidate was not going to win. They are relentless. Their skies really have fallen and they are putting chicken little to shame!

On that election night, one would have thought CNN’s Wolf Blitzer was going to break down and cry. MSNBC almost had to shut down; no one on the air could control their emotions! Bill Clinton’s old press secretary, George Stephanopoulos, led the ABC coverage. Viewers watched his face contort in agony as reality set in.

By 7 AM, the main-streamers had regained their composure and the attacks began.

Let’s just review a few post-election events, and let’s never forget Saul Alinsky’s golden rule. I paraphrase, but in effect, if you want to destroy someone, attack him or her ruthlessly, frequently, and never, ever, let truth stand in the way! No entity in the history of the body politic has more effectively embraced Alinsky’s strategy than today’s progressive left, and since the main stream media is a de facto mouthpiece for the left, they are leading the charge.

From day one of the transition, Trump has been accused of furthering the causes of racism and sexism. All he apparently had to do was wake up and put on his suit to engender those charges.

The left has “gone borneo” on the appointment of Breitbart’s Steve Bannon. I’ve followed Bannon. He says some provocative things. But he clearly is not a racist, nor is he anti-Jewish.  The left are unloading both Alinsky barrels on him. The point is, there is no way they are going to support any conservative choices for anything! If you want to know more about Steve, read this article in the WSJ. It is objective, and lifts the fog of democrat propaganda. Click here for the article.

They say the transition is in utter disarray.

They cannot stand the fact that Trump tweets in the middle of the night. It is undignified; unbecoming of a world leader.

They say all his advisors are grumpy white guys; by definition that must make them losers, misogynists, and racists, right?

Elizabeth Warren is attacking Jeff Sessions, the nominee for Attorney General. Click here to see what she is saying. There is just one problem. The left is once again not letting truth stand in the way!

They can’t find enough Prilosec OTC when pondering the possibility of Giuliani being given a cabinet post.

They abhor what they see as his xenophobic approach toward Muslims and immigrants in general. (Have they actually bothered to read this team’s white papers?)

And the list goes on. Here is what you, good reader, need to know. It will never end. The left will never, ever give Trump a break. Do not hold your breath for it will not happen.

So what is happening? Well, it actually isn’t that complicated. They lost, and they cannot believe it when people they detest are given jobs. I guess they thought Trump might ask Hillary and Bernie if they wanted seats at the table. Wait, what, he isn’t going to offer top posts to liberals? Who does he think he is?

Heh, lefties, get over it! You lost. You hate everything that is happening now. You are lashing out. You are in shock. You can’t believe it. Well, get used to it. Tell your useless, grungy protestors, (40% of whom did not even bother to vote) to go back to their caves and save their energy for something other than looting, violence, and wasting law enforcement budget money. Tell your people that to protest is a right, but learn to protest with dignity. (And you might wish to tell them that if they actually bothered to vote, it might help your cause.)

I cannot bring this tome to a close without mentioning (once again) that while I voted for Donald Trump, I hardly find him to be an appealing human being. But guess what? That doesn’t trouble me in the slightest. He is going to be our President. We are going to have a better tax structure (more jobs!), stronger national energy plan, a Supreme Court nominee who believes in upholding the Constitution (in other words, he or she will not support the contention that what the Founding Fathers thought was important is no longer relevant in today’s world) and, (ready for this?) I actually think we stand a chance of a cogent immigration reform bill being passed by Congress and signed by the President. There, I said it. You don’t have to like the guy, but why on earth not root for his success?

The Fat Lady Sang Nearly a Year Ago

fat ladyPlease don’t tell me you believe the recent spate of polls showing this Presidential race tightening. Folks, the fat lady sang, and she sang nearly a year ago. Seriously, most of the remnants of the Big Tent that was the Republican Party have been deluding themselves for at least a year. We live in strange times. The Democrats have nominated the most flawed, dishonest, disingenuous, elitist candidate possible, and yet their nominee will win. The election was over the day it became clear Donald Trump was going to wipe the Republican slate clean during the long, convoluted, mindlessly self-defeating primary process. Indeed, we have met the enemy and he is us.

Readers of Pierce Wire will know I am no fan of Donald Trump. Please don’t misunderstand me. I am voting for him. On the issues of taxes and the Supreme Court alone, he gets my vote. She (whom I cannot call by name without summoning bile) is simply so bad it defies the imagination that she will be our next President. Alas, barring a cataclysmic event, she will be our next President.

It could be so bad that we actually cede the Senate back to the socialists; whoops, I mean democrats. Even the House of Representatives may drop to a single digit majority. Woe are we. The ultimate woe would be losing the House too. Then even Katy won’t be able to bar the door. The horses will be out of the stable and you can kiss what we grew up knowing as “American Capitalism” goodbye. I’m not kidding. You’ll need to buckle your seat belts and get ready to take a ride on the redistribution express. She would make the O-man look like a novice.

From the ashes we will have to determine whether we want to rebuild the fire that was the Republican Party. We will have to figure out whether there are enough people “out there” who care about:

–celebrating traditional values,

–policies that help people lift themselves up,

–the notion that hard work should be rewarded, not taxed into oblivion,

–consistency and strength abroad, and, perhaps with tongue slight pressed into cheek,

–calling Islamic terror what it is without worrying about PC recriminations!

In short, we need to ascertain whether or not we can coalesce around the notion that we are the party that cares most about those who have been left behind, and it is the Republican economic platform (not Donald Trump’s inwardly focused deception) that will provide our great population with more chances to succeed.

We’ll need a new generation of leaders. Tom Cotton from Arkansas comes to mind. Click here to learn more about him.  It will take smart, dedicated public servants with an ability to connect with every day folk for the Republicans to emerge from the depths of the swamp into which they have willingly hurled themselves.

The tryouts for the opera and the opera itself were one and the same. Our chances of victory began and ended in the primaries. The fat lady sang months and months ago. It’s over.

Have I cheered you up?
