We should take a step back from this relentless assault on President Biden. The old adage “be careful what you ask for” comes to mind. So now that we have taken that big step back, and drawn a deep breath, let’s take a look at where we stand, now some seven months into the Biden Presidency. One thing we are not witnessing is the old Texas two-step. In that dance, the leader determines what steps to take and in which direction to take them. Well, that is not entirely fair. The Texas two-step is a progressive dance, and it moves counterclockwise, so in those respects, the current administration has it nailed!
This much should be clear to any objective spectator. The President is trying, but he is in his dotage. That isn’t his fault. It’s just life. Perhaps Brit Hume, one of America’s most stable, centrist newspersons, nailed it the other day. When one of his readers accused him of something akin to the pot calling the kettle black when Hume suggested Mr. Biden is showing signs of senility, Brit responded by saying “Madam, I am way too old to be President. So is Joe Biden.” Brit Hume and Joe Biden are the same age. In a word, “bingo”. Well played Mr. Hume.
I will say this. Mr. Biden seems nicer in his advancing years. What he did to Messrs. Bork and Thomas during their SCOTUS hearings was deplorable. In his prime, he was not a nice man.
The lack of policy (and desire to enforce our laws) on the southern border is an atrocity. The shameless breakdown of law, order, and basic municipal services in our “blue” cities from coast to coast is reminiscent of the bad old days in the 60’s and 70’s. The rapid deterioration of municipal life is not an accident; it is man-made. Shame on those politicians who place their own positions of power ahead of the public’s welfare. But leadership starts at the top, and on these matters, there is no leadership emanating from 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
The recently emerging facemask directives from the Biden administration can no longer be hidden behind “the science”. There isn’t any one “science” driving Covid protocols. America cannot afford to shut down again, and America’s school children should not have to suffer another year wearing masks. For every bit of science being used by the administration to justify its actions, there is equally compelling science refuting such justification. If there is to be a call for action from our President, it should be in the form of beseeching Americans to do the right thing and take personal responsibility. JFK’s “ask not what your country can do for you-ask what you can do for your country” comes to mind.
We can speculate all day about who is calling the shots in the administration. I’m not sure it matters. What we see is a very progressive, spendthrift agenda. It is manifested in virtually everything they do. We are stampeding toward an economic wall, which, when hit, will shatter our economy and lead toward our capitulation as the world’s reserve currency. Katy, bar the door when that happens.
So now to the heart of the matter. What do you want Mr. Biden to do? Resign? Do you really want Kamala Harris (who makes the President look like a moderate) to assume the big seat? I think I know the answer to that question.
How about focusing on the midterms? If the GOP can’t take the House in 2022, this country has truly changed! Candidates should be able to run on the “law and order” platform alone! And those along the border have that calamity as a solid number two on their platform.
There is a path back to sanity. Stay calm. Stay focused.
