When I Woke Up and Didn’t Recognize My Country..

I woke up the other day and realized that my country left me. Worse, I live in a country where tens of millions of Americans, starting with the President and Mrs. Clinton, seem perfectly ok with the politics of race and envy that dominate their lexicon.

I don’t know many people who are  very happy with our choices for the 45th President of the United States. But let’s not cover old ground. It is what it is.

In the past couple weeks, we witnessed a candidate for President of the United States collapse and literally get shoveled into her ride home. If you think I am kidding, watch it by clicking here. The official excuse was pneumonia. Sure. How stupid do they think we are?

Then we had two police shootings which led to more people and property being destroyed. Since when did it become ok to riot in the streets, hurt people, destroy property, cause mayhem, all in the name of justice? Let’s be really clear about our police. They are here to protect and to serve, and that is exactly what the vast majority of them do. Are there bad cops? Of course there are; just as there are bad people infiltrating every walk of life. There is no statistical narrative, however, that validates the notion that cops are out to “get” black males. There is data out the wazoo confirming the disproportionate amount of crime committed by black males against whites, hispanics and blacks (click here to read more on this.) So how have we come to a place where focusing on likely sources of crime is “racial profiling” and proven effective techniques such as “stop and frisk” may no longer be conducted? This is what happens before you roll out of bed and realize you don’t know where you are anymore.

The Charlotte riots of the past week have largely been covered as peaceful protests. Click here and tell me what you think. So allow me to go back to the tragedy that occurred in Tulsa. A police officer has turned herself in and has been charged. A police officer killing an unarmed man cannot be countenanced. But with all the rhetoric and grandstanding from pundits left and right, where is the common sense? I don’t know about you, but my kids know to obey the police when they tell you to do something. While this is comedy, Chris Rock sent a strong message to the black community a few years ago when he produced this piece. (click here) While that video seems harsh in light of recent police shootings, the message is one that has been completely lost. Application of common sense would prevent most of these tragedies. When a police person tells you to raise your hands and get on the ground, you raise your hands and get on the ground. You do not back off and disobey repeated orders. Again, I am not, in any way, shape, or form, rationalizing the shooting death of an unarmed man. I am, however, saying what no one else wants to say. If people do what they are told to do by the police, these situations would not develop into the nightmares they often become.

Back to politics. Where has the President been for the past couple weeks? Why on earth is he not speaking out about the rioting in Charlotte? Well, folks, some of you aren’t going to like it, but I believe the President believes we are a racist country, and that for change to occur, things need to be messy. In short, I think the President is ok with the civil unrest we are witnessing. Again, when I stumbled out of bed this morning, I didn’t know where I was.

Mr. Trump has irritated the black elite by suggesting that blacks have virtually nothing to lose by voting for him. Some people are offended by such an aggressive posture. Why? Progressive leftist policies aimed at improving the plight of our impoverished communities have failed for fifty years and cost 22 trillion dollars. (See article on this massive failure of government policy here.) I offer this; it’s not only what do they have to lose, but what does Mr. Trump have to lose! He is favored by 8% of our African American community. He supports charter schools, arguably the only hope for children in poor, drug and crime ridden neighborhoods. Mrs. Clinton wants to abolish them. He favors jobs programs and vocational training. Mrs. Clinton just wants to keep throwing good money after bad, and is wholly beholden to the teachers’ unions. I think he is dead right to be brutally frank and honest with a group of people who have been let down for decades by the democrats.

So what is going to happen in this country I no longer recognize? I have no idea. Do you?

A prediction–more people will watch Monday night’s debate than ever before.
